    At the hospital. She’s awake, she’s awake :)

    Chapter 202

     

    Minutes later the Dr. Garrison walks in with the other doctor in tow.

    “Bette, I’m here with Dr. Carl Sanchez, he was you surgeon.” Dr. Garrison says.

    “Hello, Bette. I’m going to turn off the respirator for a few moments, to see if you’re able to breathe normally on your own. You might gasp for air at first but then start to breathe okay.” Dr. Sanchez says.

    Tina is again holding her hand, and feel Bette squeeze two times.

    “She says okay.” Tina says and looks at Dr. Sanchez.

    “Okay, here we go.” Dr. Sanchez says and turns off the machine.

    And as Dr. Sanchez says, Bette gasps for air for a few moments, then settles down to a almost normal breathing pattern.

    “Okay, you seem to be able to breathe on your own. That is great. I’ll get the machine and tube out of you in a second.” Dr. Sanchez says.

    Bette squeeze two time as it’s her only source of communication at the moment.

    “Dr. Garrison, will you assist me?” Dr. Sanchez asks.

    “Sure.” He replies.

    “Tina, maybe you will wait outside, while we do this?” Dr. Garrison asks.

    She feels Bette squeeze one time.

    “Bette wants me here. She squeezes one time for no and two for yes. She just squeezes one time.” Tina says.

    “Okay, but you have to stand over there.” Dr. Garrison says and points in front of the bed.

    “Okay, thank you. Babe, I’m right here. I’m not leaving.” Tina says and softly squeezes her hand before letting go. The two doctors prepare to pull out the tube.

    “Bette, when we say go, take a deep breathe first and then blow that air out as we pull it out. Do not swallow. It will make it worse.. Okay?” Dr. Sanchez says.

    Bette lift her left hand a little and give them her thumb.

    “Okay, here we go. Bette take a deep breath, now…” Bette takes a deep breath. “And now start to slowly blow out.” Bette blows out as Dr. Sanchez pulls the tube out. Tina stands behind and watches. Tears fall again. The pain of seeing the one you love in this much pain. Bette coughs heavy and it seems like she’s choking. They get the tube out and Bette continues to cough. Tina move up beside her again. She softly touches her chin to let her know she’s there.

    2. I was so glad to see this post. Tell your friend thank you from a fan. Bette is too strong to give up now. She has her wife and her kids to live for. I hope that when the bandages come off that her eye sight will be fine. Waiting patiently

    5. I am glad that Bette is doing better and hope that she WILL be GOOD as new. This family has been through soooo much physical drama. It would be nice to see the Porter family just be able to relax and deal with some of the regular drama of just raising their kids :o)

    7. u said it – lots of drama – unnecessary drama and torture for this family – one would think you dont like this family at all – coz everytime something good happens – a double big bad whammy soon follows – so now that bette has gotten kicked and trashed – who’s next – tina (again) – tis time what – she cant ‘walk’?

    9. Glad to see Bette woke up. BUt please don’t let her be blind or something else. They have had enough drama in their live right now so please let the happy tmes finally come and stay!!

    10. Hey Lauren – great to see some posts from you, you’ve been missed. But know that I’ll take the boat to Oslo and hunt you down, if you make Bette permanent blind or have other problems!!! I hope the moving is soon over and you can relax a little. Take care.
