    Author Notes:

    B&T 9 years after season 1: Bette having a quick breakfast with Eli

     

    "Yes. I was hoping I could introduce you to the Stevenson’s tomorrow so I wouldn’t have to lie about spending time with you."

     

    "Good. I didn’t really like the idea of sneaking around. If your mom found out she’d be very upset with me. But won’t the Stevensons call your mom to make sure she approves of you spending time with me."

     

    And that’s when Eli started to talk really fast.

     

    "Probably, but I think they’ll be okay with it since technically your listed as one of my legal guardians. Plus I’m going to call Aunt Grace tonight and tell her everything if I can get her on board I know that she’ll be able to work it out with mom. Moms supposed to fly down at the end of the week (but she’ll probably want to get here sooner after I talk to her tonight), and then we’re going to decide what we’re going to do for our summer vacation. What do you think?"

     

    "She made me your legal guardian in case something happened to her?"

     

    "Yeah, I brought my copy with me, mom made copies of all the important papers and put them all in a lock box in our loft…it’s upstairs in my room I can show it to you tomorrow if you’d like."

     

    "Uh. Yes, I’d really like that."

     

    "I really have to go now. I’ll call you tonight after I talk to my Aunt Grace…um what time do you go to sleep I don’t want to call you too late."

     

    "I’ll wait for your call. I don’t think I’ll be getting much sleep tonight."

     

    "Okay bye"

     

    I couldn’t help myself I reached over and pulled him into a tight hug. I couldn’t help the tears that fell, I’m unbelievably happy that my life is tied up with his. I know he has to get back to his room, but I really don’t want to let him go. After a minute or two I pull back and brush his hair to the side away from his face.

     

    For some reason that made him smile.

     

    "Mom’s always doing that…brushing my hair to the side. Um…My jacket has one of those decorative hankies in the top pocket…don’t worry I’ve never used it to blow my nose. You can keep it to dry your eyes. I’ll call you for sure tonight, bye."

     

    And then he was gone. I have so much to think about that I feel like my head is going to explode, but for some reason I don’t care about that right now. I’ve only spent two hours with Eli, but he’s still managed to make me feel happier then I have in years. What worry’s me most about this situation is the possibility that after this week I won’t get to be a part of his life.

    15. If Eli has Tina’s smile like Bette thinks he does, Kit probably already knows who Eli is. Bette should realize that it is up to Eli now whether she is in his life or not; Eli has made this huge step to meet her, and Bette should make it clear to him that she wants him in her life – the first chance she gets. I don’t think Tina will be upset with him, it’s not like she has tried to hide Bette from him. But has she tried to hide him from Bette? That’s the question. Excellent story, can’t wait for more!

    17. Holy crap. Bette’s one of his guardians?! Wow. Seems to me Tina must have been really wanting a reunion. And now she’s coming to CA. Can’t wait!
