A Leap Of Faith (Chapter 10)

“I need you to be there for me too Dane,” Alice sobbed. Dana leaned across and pushed the hair from the blonde’s face and used her fingertips to brush away Alice’s tears. She gave her a light kiss and laced their fingers together, squeezing Alice’s hand in reassurance.

Dana: Come on, let’s do this…

Alice and Dana followed the young officer into a small, humid room, to find Tonya sat waiting with her lawyer. Alice shrunk back when she set eyes on Dana’s ex, but Dana gripped Alice’s hand tighter and led her to sit down, never letting go.

Tonya smiled maliciously “Alice… and Dana! How thoughtful of you to join us!” The lawyer leaned across and whispered in Tonya’s ear, advising her to keep quiet. Tonya turned and glared at the young man and then returned to staring at Alice and Dana. “I must admit, I might have known that you wouldn’t be far behind, it seems that you two can’t keep your hands off each other these days.”

Alice kept her head down, and Dana just grimaced. Tonya continued. “To be honest, I wasn’t surprised to find you at Alice’s apartment when I rang this morning…”

    Alice: So it was you!

Tonya: Wow there is a brain in there somewhere after all? Well done Alice… I’m impressed Dana, she’s a keeper!

Dana’s knuckles turned white and the veins in her neck began to show themselves as she clenched her jaw in frustration. Tonya’s manipulations were provoking all the intended reactions, but the brunette was determined to stay with Alice, because she loved her and nothing could ever sway that.

“Could we just get this over with?” Dana set a steely gaze on Tonya as the police officers began the recording.

After an unbearable hour and a half in the sweltering hole that passed for an ‘Interrogation Room’ Alice and Dana were finally free to leave. Tonya had been charged with assault, as well as having a severe restraining order thrown in for good measure.
