Tina – You think …?
Alice – Positive!
The producer gazes at her girlfriend with a twinkle in her eyes.
Tina – What would I say?
Alice – Well, let’s see … You can say: “Hi, honey! I’ve been waiting for you!”
Tina – Nooo …
She shakes her head mortified.
Alice – OK, then you don’t say anything. You just go there, wrap your arms around her and make sure that they know that she is taken.
Tina presses her lips together, looking unsure.
Alice – C’mon! Let’s shake her up! It will be fun!
Tina – I don’t know these women …
Alice – Who told me that she was not Miss Proper?
Tina – OK! OK!
She stands up and sighs. She walks toward Bette with a little apprehension.
Alice chuckles and speaks to herself.
Alice – Experiment number two: Miss Porter plays the game of love!

Lesbian nightclub, night: Bette is still talking to the two women when Tina walks over to her side and wraps her arms around the brunette’s waist in an intimate embrace.
The gallery owner turns to her girlfriend with a mix of surprise and delight.
Tina – Hi … I’ve been waiting for you …
She smiles softly.
The brunette smiles back and wraps her arm around her waist.
Bette – Hi, Tee!
They gaze at each other for a moment.
Bette – Sarah, meet my girlfriend, Tina Kennard. Tee, this is Sarah Meyer, a brilliant sculptor, and her friend, Genevieve. Sarah showed her work in my gallery last year and has spent the last ten months in Paris.
Tina – Nice to meet you!
Genevieve – Hi!
Sarah – So you are the Tina who stole Bette’s heart!
Bette and Tina look surprised.
Sarah – Al told me about you two.
Tina – You’ve met Al?
Bette – They were an item a couple of years ago, Tee.
Tina – Oh …
Sarah – Well, ladies, I think we must get going. I promised Gen to show her all the nice places in town.
Bette – It was nice talking to you, Sarah. Stop by the gallery sometime. I would like to discuss your recent work.
Sarah – Great! I do need some exposure. I’m afraid nobody knows me any longer.
Bette – That would be impossible. I’ve heard wonderful comments about you all year.
Sarah – Then you must tell me all about it. Nice meeting you, Tina!

Cute…. Alice is still Alice. She still cannot believe that Bette treats Tina differently from any other woman she has dated. Tina has no faults in Bette’s eyes….

dbff, I’m so with you concerning Melvin/Bette. I never could quite understand why she accepted his condescending, arrogant behaviour. Even if you love your parents unconditionally, you can expect them to treat the person you love at least with respect and you should tell your parents to do so.
But as you said, you’re writing a prequel so I’m fearing for the worst when it comes to their visit in Philly on Thanksgiving.
Thank you so much for another cute chapter! Tina’s efforts to open up and include Bette more in her day-to-day life made me smile. She’s really getting confident with being with a woman. Next step: exchange of keys to the other’s home ;-)
