When they arrived home Bette jumped out of the car and opened the passenger door for Tina. Tina got out
“We didn’t get the bike “
“Its in the Holloman’s garage – I can be a devious piece of work you know “
“Clearly lying to your future wife is something that you think is okay “
Bette laughed and took hold of Tina’s hand. She touched the engagement ring – this was going so well. When they walked into the house it was all quiet
“Want to sneak up to bed ? “ Tina asked smiling at Bette as she locked the door
“Lets just grab some food “ Bette suggested
Tina nodded and opened the door. The lights came on and she was faced with a huge banner CONGRATULATIONS BETTE AND TINA. Ollie was sitting in his wheelchair with all of their friends – Paul, Helena, Jodie, Shane, Dana, Alice and Lara.
“Got something to tell us ? “ Helena asked
Tina looked at Bette
“I may have mentioned to my best friend that tonight was special “ Bette defended herself
“So ? “ Paul said
“Bette asked me to marry her tonight and I said yes “ Tina confirmed
Immediately Bette and Tina were engulfed by their friends all hugging them and giving them their best wishes.
“You did it “ Helena hugged Bette “ Well done “
“Thanks Helena “ Bette was fighting tears
Tina was crying as Shane and Alice hugged her “I am so happy “
After all the hugs and good wishes everyone sat down to food that Shane and Dana had brought over. Tina went into the kitchen to get herself a soda and to dry her eyes. So much was going through her mind – she took a long sip of a glass of water and sat at the kitchen table trying to compose herself. A noise made her look round.
Ollie had come into the kitchen – he wheeled himself carefully but he reached Tina and touched her face
“I am really happy for you T “
“Thanks Ollie – I am really happy as well “
“The ring is something else “
“I know “
“I have bought her a ring – I’ll go and get it in a minute and put it on her in front of all our friends “
“Might be a better idea to do it tomorrow in front of the kids “
“True – are they okay ?”
“Yes – don’t worry “
Tina sniffed “ This is surreal “
“I know – Bette and I had a long talk the other day when you and Paul had the kids “
“Right “
“I knew she was going to ask you to marry her “
“You did ? “
“And we talked about the practicalities of it all. I guess that all four of us need to talk this through to make it work but “ he took a deep breathe “I realised that after every piece of shit I have put you two through I needed to really make a grand gesture to show that I have changed. I am happy for the kids to be all known as Kennard-Porter. The girls would still have my surname as part of the full name and I guess with my name being a girls name it doesn’t sound too weird – so I am happy for it to be Rebecca Joyce Kennard Porter and so on. Also we need to see a lawyer to make sure that if anything happened to you Bette would still be their guardian and if anything happened to me Paul would be their guardian as well. “

That was absolutely beautiful. I knew Bette had found the perfect home for thier very large family but I never expected that she would be having it built from the ground up. I am so glad that Tina didn’t get upset that she wasn’t the one who got to propose first. Wow Ollie made a 360 it is great how he wants to make sure that Bette and Paul are able to leagally take care of the kids should anything happen to Tina and him.

Ahhh, that sure was romantic Ally. Nice thing about the pre-fabs is you can keep adding units until the rooms and houses are the size and configuration you want. So will it all be sleekly modern? I mean it about the NC-17. I want a great big fat one.
