Bette reviewed uniform brochure. She called to be sure of the location and that they were opened this afternoon. The shop assured them they were. She then called Tina.

Tina: Hey Babe? What’s up?

Bette:  I know you’re busy. I just realized that from Malibu to UCLA or Whittington is going to be a two- and one-half-hour drive. That would mean we are going to be in the car five hours per day. That’s too much for Dan and I’m not happy about it either.

Tina: Oh god! You’re right.  What can we do?

Bette:  How about we rent or buy a small apartment or condo near UCLA and live there during the week and then stay at Helena’s for the weekend.  Or just live in the apartment until we find the house we want?  We could get something basic – three bedrooms, three baths, kitchen, and living room. You know just a crash pad.

Tina:  Yeah, that would work. But we still look for the house of our dreams, right?

Bette:  Oh, absolutely. Once we have the house, we can reevaluate. If it puts Dan on the road too much, we keep the place and live in our house on weekends and holidays and during the summer. Or we consider making putting Dan in a boarding school and bring him home every weekend. What do you think?

Tina: God, I don’t want Daniel living away from me, but I don’t want him on the road either. Let me think about it and get back with on this tomorrow. I like the idea about an apartment at least until we get our house. I think we can make that work. But I don’t know about the rest since we don’t have a house yet.

Bette: Think about this. What if our home, our dream home was next door to Helena? How would we manage this? Wouldn’t having a condo downtown make more sense? Of course, it depends on where your studio is going to be located as well. Think about putting it in a commercial building instead of at the house. Anyway, we could probably get an apartment or condo fairly quickly. But we only have three weeks to make that happen as well. Let’s talk again tonight and tomorrow. I’m sorry to disrupt you from your work. But I needed to talk to you.
