Daniel: Yeah, even if I have to eat it on the way home, it will help.

Bette: Talk to your mom. Things are going well. I have signed you and Angie up for golf lessons. But it looks like you’re only going to have two weeks of lessons. I wish we had started that earlier. But that didn’t happen. We only have three weeks before we go to New York and one week will be taken up by Angie’s driving lessons. I managed to get two afternoon next week with the golf pro so you two can get your clubs fitted and purchased.

Daniel:  Well, one of the after-school activities is golf. I may be able to get some more in during the school year. I’d like to play tennis as well. And if I take music lessons, I am going to be jam full.

Bette: Don’t forget, you will have homework and you have to eat and sleep as well.

Bette:  And there is that two-hour drive from Malibu. That is not going to work.

Daniel:  Malibu?  Why Malibu?

Bette:  We will be moving out of our beach house into Helena and Dylan’s house until we find the house we want to buy. Since its only three more weeks before we go to New York, it is highly probable that we will be living in Malibu for several months before we find a home. That will put you and me 2 to 2 and a half hours away from school. And we will have to drive that twice per day. Not good… too much time.

Daniel: Yeah, that a lot of time each day in the car.

Bette:  Well, I’ll think of something.

They finished their lunch rather quietly.  Daniel felt that his test went well. He finished the question in total five minutes before time was up. He had a chance to review his work and he made no changes.  He hoped the afternoon would go as well.

Bette and Daniel took their dishes to the tray window and left the cafeteria and went back to the teachers’ lounge. Bette went through the shopping bag and found the uniform brochure and they were looking at it together. There were three places where the uniforms were sold. Bette suggested that they go after the test and get that done. Daniel agreed. At five minutes to 1:00, they both walked to the test room. Mr. Clarke had set up his desk and came out and invited him in. He repeated the instructions he had said earlier and gave him the signal to begin.  Bette stood there for a moment and then returned to the lounge.
