Chapter 10 – Tuesday – Daniel’s Test and Marilyn’s Visit
Tina: Is she pretty?
Bette: Sure, if you like older heavy-set short women with fire engine red hair.
Tina: Sounds like just what a principle should look like.
Bette: She knows what she’s doing and what she is responsible for. I think she cares about her students and what they are doing here. But she takes no crap either.
Tina: I like her already. When’s orientation?
Bette: I need to update my calendar. It’s either August 15th or 16th – we get to choose which one. My orientation is Aug 12th through the 14th. And the kids will be having golf lessons.
Tina: You have been busy. Now figure out when we will be moving in with Helena. I don’t think we will have a house in three weeks.
Bette: Shit…sorry. I’ll give that some thought. Maybe you need to warn Helena when you see her this afternoon. Right now, I would say on or about August 23rd. We will fly to New York on the 24th or 25th.
Tina: Yeah, that sounds right. Feels like day after tomorrow.
Bette: No, day after tomorrow, you are coming home to me. Right?
Tina: Absolutely. I’m coming home to my sweet wife and our son and I’m bringing our daughter with me. Listen Babe… I need to go and get busy. Angie is going to think I deserted her. I love you. I’ll talk to you tonight, okay?
Bette: Yeah. I love you too. Talk to you later. Bye.
They both hung up with a small pain in their hearts. But in a couple more days, they would be together again.
Daniel came in the lounge and went to the bathroom. Bette decided to go wash her hands so they could go eat. They then both walked to the cafeteria and proceed down the line to get their lunch. Because the amount of people on campus was much less than normal, they had reduced the number of selections and prepared some foods that was more appealing to their customers. Today the meats were meatloaf and tuna salad. The vegetables were mash potatoes, green beans, a green salad, fried squash, or sliced tomatoes. They were serving yeast rolls and butter, German chocolate cake and banana pudding. To drink, they had ice tea – sweetened and unsweetened. Bette decided to have the green salad, the tuna salad, green beans and sliced tomatoes. She also chooses the banana pudding. Daniel decided to have the green salad, the meat loaf, mash potatoes, fried squash, green beans, sliced tomatoes and German chocolate cake. He also wanted sweet tea. Bette got out her guest cards and gave it to the clerk as she recorded her selections and Dan’s selections.

Excellent chapter. Enjoying the growth in Bette and Tina & the family. Post soon!
Thank you… another chapter coming soon.. Couple of days…
As to the growth? I always imagined that as time passed, Bette and Tina would grow more in tuned with each other. They would grow to accept the other for who they were and their idiosyncrasies would become less bothersome for that is what defines them. As they become more knowledgeable of their mate, and more accepting of who they are, the more at peace they would become with themselves and the life they had chosen.
