    Chapter 10 – Tuesday – Daniel’s Test and Marilyn’s Visit

The beverages arrived and was put at the small conference table.  Ms. Miller suggested that they move to the table.  They all moved over to the table.

Ms. Miller:  Okay, let me continue.  Whittington has a variety of after school activities.  We have sports which is an inter-mural team sport. We compete with six schools which we have games with on six Saturdays per year. Our sports are soccer, baseball, tennis, golf, and volley ball. You may be on only one team per semester. You may change sports at the end of each semester.  Each team has a maximum number and they choose the best based on a single competition.  If you do not wish to be on a team or are not chosen there is a general participation in the sports to offer competition and practice for the teams. These do not have required attendance but are more or less pick-up games to give students opportunity to exercise and enjoy the sport.  Oh yes, all sports are co-ed. The teams and the pick-up games are composed of both boys and girls. If you are interested in being on a team, you will see the Head Coach Mathews at orientation. She will discuss the rules, the eligibility and the schedule with you. We encourage every student to participate in some sports activity at the school, but it is not required.

Ms. Miller then took a sip of her coffee and then restarted.

Ms. Miller:  We also offer music lessons for students. There are both group and individual lessons. These lessons are given but require a fee per lesson to participate. Also, the student must supply his or her own instrument.  We do of course supply pianos. We have a limited number of teachers and a limited number of hours and therefore we can only teach a limited number of students. Again, you need to get in touch with the Music Director Johnson for more information. His contact information will be in your packet that you will receive before you leave. If you are interested in music lessons, you should contact him as soon as possible. He will answer all your questions.

Once again, she paused to take another sip of coffee.

Ms. Miller: We also have an after-school arts program. We work with students in group sessions in drawing, painting, sculpture in clay and wood and refuse materials. Each class is limited in size and we have multiple sessions each day running simultaneously.  If you are interested in any of these, you will see Amy Grant who is our visual arts person.  She will be at orientation. Now there is a supply fee per month for the arts classes. You will be required to provide your own protective clothing as the materials can damage clothing.

    1. Thank you… another chapter coming soon.. Couple of days…

As to the growth? I always imagined that as time passed, Bette and Tina would grow more in tuned with each other. They would grow to accept the other for who they were and their idiosyncrasies would become less bothersome for that is what defines them. As they become more knowledgeable of their mate, and more accepting of who they are, the more at peace they would become with themselves and the life they had chosen.
