City Of Angels Chapter 4: What goes around, comes around.

She closed her eyes tightly as sobs began to escape from her lips as she leaned her head onto her crossed arms. She couldn’t do this alone; the feeling of heavy sorrow was too much for her. She needed her partner back, she needed Alice.

Images of the past entered her mind as she entered a slumber like state. She was at the church with Alice as her dying lover lying on the cold hard ground. Suddenly Alice’s eyes shot open and she stared directly at Dana.

“You have to keep moving Dana.” Alice whispered. “I believe in you.”

Dana shot her head up as her eye lids flied open. She was pulled back into reality with a new resolve to see Alice once more. She had to keep going. She had to finish what she started. As she stood up, she saw a group of children around her laughing and playing on the side walk. A large black dog was running with them. One of the little kids feeds the dog a small little piece of cake and ties a skull mask over its face. The group of children runs away giggling as their footsteps echo into the night.

The skull dog studies Dana for a brief second before trotting away. As curiosity ensued, Dana preceded to follow the dog down the dark alley way. As Dana comes to the end of the dark alley she sees the dog enter a small inner city church. The doors are wide open and a path of flower petals lead up to the front steps.

Dana walks into the small sanctuary. The entire church has tiers of candles which illuminated the large room. People are scattered around the large church alter with pictures of their departed ones placed in front of them. The entire alter is decorated with many candy skulls and a flowers. Food and drinks were offered to the pictures of the dead as the parishioners of the church continued their silent prayers.

Dana watches from the rear of the church entrance, intrigued at the sight she was seeing.

“Can I help you?” Dana turned her head to the elderly Hispanic priest beside her. He turns to light a few of the candles next to him as he says a small silent prayer.
