    Tibette beginning… She had waited, her heart beating furiously in anticipation, as she had listened to the never-ending ringing tone into the phone. No answer… She’d let out a long sigh and was just about to hang up when…

    … If she hadn’t met the woman who had turned her world upside down, and changed her life forever.
     

    Bette’s smile appeared before her and for a few seconds, she forgot to breathe. God, she missed her so much already… She wondered how she was doing. How Shane was doing. She prayed that she would be okay. She was so young… It suddenly dawned on her that Bette might have tried to call her. But her phone’s battery had died and she hadn’t been able to replace it yet… Damn! she said out loud, hitting the steering wheel.
     

    She thought about Carmen. Bette had said that she would call her from the hospital… Poor girl, she must have been shattered by the news. I’ll make sure that she gets regular updates on Shane, even if I have to call Bette myself, Tina thought decisively, grinning at her sudden resolution. Yes, anything to make Carmen feel better…
     

    She suddenly felt more light-hearted, and turned the radio on for the end of the trip.
     

     
    A few hours later, tired but having finally reached the house, she opened the front door to find Carmen in tears on the sofa.
     

    She dropped her bags and was by the young latina’s side in no time.
     

    "Carmen, sweetie… What is it?… What’s going on?" She asked her, fearing the worst.
     

    "It’s… It’s…" The girl tried to say between sobs, "It’s Shane…"
     

    Oh my God… Tina thought. She was starting to anticipate the worst scenario when she heard the next words,
     

    "She woke up…"
     

    "Huh?…" Tina could only mutter.
     

    "She woke up… This morning… She is gonna be fine. She’s all buised and very weak, but she’s gonna be fine." Carmen said, her tears still falling but a smile on her face."
     

    "Oh Carmen, that’s great!" Tina exclaimed, finally letting out the breath she’d been holding. 
     

    She grabbed Carmen in a tight hug, relieved for the young woman, but also for Bette.
     

    "When did you get the news?" The blonde inquired.
     

    "Oh, only a few minutes ago… Bette just called."
     

    Tina’s heart missed a beat, ‘Bette just called.’
     

    "Oh?…" She said trying to sound casual, "Just now?"
     

    "Yes. She said she wanted to make sure that all of Shane’s tests came back positive so that she would give me only good news. That’s why she waited to call me." The young girl explained.

    15. Okay, they have fallen in love with each other and are not even in the same country, what is the next step? I hope that the survive this time away from each other. It also gives Tina some time to end her marriage to Helena.

    16. ” I needed to hear your voice one last time before I left. ” OMG, what an admission !! How could she hung up right after saying this ?! Well, actually… Actually, I can certainly see why she would do that, she just wasn’t ready to face the consequences of such a revelation, but at the same time she desperately needed to say those words to Tina for somehow it must be a relief for her… But how could she leave Tina like that ? With those words ?… This is so heartwrenching, no to mention excruciating ! … Anyway, off to read your last update now !
