“Understood” Jodi looked away and sighed. She noted there were several bottles of good champagne that had been consumed and more were arriving. She missed the camaraderie of Bette’s circle of friends. “What are you all celebrating?”
“Tina and I just announced our engagement.” Bette wished she had not had to tell her that at this moment but it was what it was.
Jodi couldn’t hide the shock and then the pain that crossed her face before she regained her composure. “Congratulations, I wish you both a long happy life together.”
“Thank you” Bette replied automatically. She could see that Jodi was trying and she did not want to minimize the part that she played in triggering Jodi’s anger. “I know I handled this all very badly. I cared very deeply for you and I am sorry for hurting you. I know I did… and for that I am sorry.” Jodi wished that she did not see and feel Bette’s sincerity.
“I’m working on forgiving you” Jodi said with the hint of a smile.
“I’ll see you around” Bette inclined her head towards the table. “I need to get back.”
“If its ok I’d like to stop and say a proper hello and offer my congratulations to your fiancée.”
As they approached the table the conversation skidded to a halt. All eyes turned to Bette and Jodi. Jodi began to sign and Tom interpreted as she spoke. “I just apologized to Bette for using my opening at The Hammer to personally attack her. I apologize to all of you as well for not telling you my plan and making you both a witness and party to that attack. I was very angry and very wrong. I ask for your forgiveness.”
She voiced the last words looking directly at Shane and Kit before acknowledging the whole table. When she reached Tina she paused. “I completely understand why you had my exhibit shut down the next day, Tina.” There were several gasps at the table, only Tina, Helena and Bette had known of Tina’s role in that until this moment.
“Way to go TK” Alice said loudly.
“I would have done the same if she were mine” Jodi admitted nodding her head in concession. “I just learned from Bette that the two of you are getting married.” Blue eyes met hazel; there was a flash of jealousy, which caused Tina to raise her eyebrows. Angelica now rested against Bette’s shoulder watching the adults with interest.

This chapter was amazing! There is a part of me who hates Jodi but a part that feels for her. I really believe she loved Bette in her own way and doesn’t know what to do with all that emotion. This chapter was so perfect, I can’t wait to read more!

Someone should have just slapped Jodi and threw her out. she did not deserve for them to accept her apology and I for ne don’t believe it was heartfelt, the girl has no heart. Just my own opinion.Okay? You are doing fine with this story and I love it the second time around. PPS
I loved the update Kelika and agree in part with Dainty that Jodi doesn’t deserve absolution for what she did. Yes Bette hurt her (something that Jodi has also done to many a woman), but she did not try to publicly humiluate and distroy her personally and professionally. And this is something that Shane shouldn’t over look, having hurt a many heart in her past. I loved Kit’s reaction. PPS :o).

Loved this from the very beginning,hadn’t stopped yet. Shane and Kit are two wonderful people.They will fight for Bette in a minute and tell her if she is wrong. Jodie could learn a lot from everyone at that table.even Angie. thanks
