    Forever Friends Ch. 16

“Ok.  So Dana didn’t mind you staying with her until she found out how long it would be for.  Now she isn’t sure that she wants you to stay with her for that long.”

“Basically, but I don’t know why it matters how long I stay with her and when I tried to ask her she just said ‘I need time to figure everything out’.  I don’t know Shane.  Something is going on inside her head that she is not willing to share and it’s making her question everything right now.”

Alice and Shane both turned towards the bathroom door when they heard it open.  Dana slowly began to walk back to her chair.  Alice started to rise out of her chair when Dana stopped and stared at her.  “Don’t!  I don’t need help getting back to the chair.  I can do it on my own!”

Alice was hurt by Dana’s harsh tone and thought it would be best if she left the room for a few minutes to let Dana calm down.  “I am going to go get coffee.  If Kit shows up with dinner just put mine to the side and I will eat it later.”  Alice started walking towards the door with her head hung low.

Shane waited until Dana was back in her chair before trying to speak with her.  “Dane, what’s going on?”

“Shane don’t.  I know Alice left so you could talk to me and then tell her why I am angry and it’s not going to work.”

Shane stared at Dana, forcing Dana to look her in the eye.  “First, I don’t get into the middle of other people’s battles.  I don’t know what is going on between you and Alice and I love you both so the last place I want to be is dragged in the middle.  Really, I don’t know shit.  What I do know is that you are obviously pissed about something and Alice just walked out of here like she lost her best friend.  It doesn’t take Yoda to realize something isn’t right between you two.  Right now you can’t talk to your best friend about whatever is bothering you so I thought you might want to talk to me.  Shit!  The one time I try to play the Yoda role and I get shot down.”  Shane sighed, leaned back in her chair and started staring at the tv.

    1. I completely understand both of their concerns. It is really a tough call. If I were in D’s shoes, I wouldn’t want to further hurt A should my health deteriorate and die. Then again, if I were A, given the history, I would spend every waking moment with D. Life is short, who knows. Hopefully, they would work something out. It was impressive that A was able to finally reveal her feelings. D should be next in repeating what she said to S to A. D had some much to process and I hope A would continue to be patience with D. Thanks Cougar.

    2. You have nothing to worry about, cougar! You wrote this chapter amazingly well. You write Alice, Dana and Shane so well. I especially like how you wrote Dana’s frustration with the situation. Also how you wrote Alice’s guilt at not being there when Dana was close to dying. So good that they both got this off their chests. Hopefully they can move forward from there. Thanks for another great chapter!
