    Freedom Fest Ch 9

    (December 2001)

Dana was at her parent’s house for one of the breaks.  Alice was lying in bed and they were talking on the phone.  “I miss you so much.  My bedroom still faintly smells like your perfume and your pillow smells like your shampoo.”

“I’m sorry.  I miss you too.”  Dana heard Alice grumble through the phone.  “What’s wrong?”  She asked her voice full of concern.

“I can’t find Chris.”  Alice sounded like a little kid and Dana laughed, thinking it was the most adorable thing she ever heard.

“Ah ha!  Found him.  Come here.”  Alice said as she grabbed Chris, rolled over on her side and pulled him close to her.  “What the hell!”

Surprised by Alice’s outburst, Dana stopped laughing instantly and began to worry again.  “What?  What’s wrong Al?”

    “Dana?”

    “Yes.”

“Do you mind telling me why Chris smells like your perfume?”  Alice tried to sound angry, but Dana could hear her smile in the words.

    “Um…I don’t know.”

    “Try again Dane.”

“Um…well um…when I was getting dressed this morning he tried to give me a hug goodbye just as I sprayed my perfume.”  Dana smiled knowing Alice was never going to believe her lie.

“Dana.  Try again.  Why does Chris smell like you?”  This time Alice’s tone was a little more serious and Dana knew she wanted the truth.

Shy and unsure, Dana replied “I sprayed him with my perfume this morning.  I know how much you like my perfume and thought it would make you think I was there with you when you curled up to him at night.”

“Aw.  That is so sweet.  One problem though Dane.”

“What’s the problem?”  Now Dana did begin to worry.  She thought spraying Chris with her perfume was a good idea and was worried about what the problem could be.

“Well you forgot what your perfume does to me.  Now I am lying in a cold lonely bed really missing you and horny!”  Dana laughed as Alice let out a frustrated sigh.

“I’m sorry baby.”  Dana was sorry and she meant it.  “I didn’t mean to make you miss me more and frustrate you.  I was hoping spraying Chris with my perfume would make you miss me less.”

Alice’s heart swelled at Dana’s words and honesty.  She knew Dana really did mean to ease the sadness of them being apart and she fell more in love with Dana because of it.  The action was so innocent and sweet and just one of the many little things Dana did to show her love that no one else ever did for Alice.

    (Present)

“If only every time we spent apart was as sweet as that one.”  Dana closed her eyes as the memories of their first Christmas came flooding back.

    1. Sound like you are very busy 3 jobs,so people can’t even get one. Just don’t work so hard that you make yourself ill. That is from aold broad that is just about worked out. I love Dana she was sly and a wee bit gofy but so very sweet. Alice was lucky to have her love. thanks

    2. So thrilled you found time to update! I am very happy to hear you plan to keep going with your excellent stories. I know your loyal readers (including me) will be waiting whenever you have a chance to post. On to the chapter… What a roller coaster. So many ups and downs. It can be so painful and so wonderful to go back over memories of a life together. Love all the touches with the stuffed animals and that Dana had both and still treasured them. Thank you so much for finding the time to get us an update. You rock, cougar!!
