Freedom Fest Ch 9
Alice finished wrapping her last gift and sighed. “I hate wrapping presents. I rather receive ‘em and unwrap ‘em.”
“Aw poor baby. Let me see if I can cheer you up.” Dana grinned and reached into her backpack and pulled out a few wrapped gifts.
“What are those?” Alice asked upon seeing the presents.
“Your Christmas presents. Since I can’t be here for Christmas I thought I would give you your presents now.”
“Give me! Give me!” Alice was smiling and rocking in anticipation. She had no idea how Dana managed to find the time to shop and wrap gifts for her without Alice knowing. They had spent just about every minute with each other since they got back to school after Thanksgiving break.
(Present)
Dana couldn’t remember all of the gifts she had given Alice that Christmas. She always remembered giving her the Coyote Ugly DVD, smiling remember all of the times they did not make it completely through the movie before making passionate love for hours.
Dana also remembered the very first Christmas present she had given Alice. In fact, it was the first real gift she ever gave Alice and Dana had it to this day.
Dana was always a sucker for the stuffed animal claw machine just inside the Wal-mart near campus. She used to drive her friends and Alice nuts because she had to attempt the machine every time she walked in the doors. She was so addicted that everyone would grab her arm as they walked through the doors just to keep Dana from trying the machine.
(December 2001)
Dana and Alice were talking and laughing as they walked into Wal-mart. “Hang on a second.” Dana said as she walked toward the claw machine.
Alice followed, unsure of what Dana was doing. She watched as Dana pulled money from her pocket and put it in the machine. Dana studied the machine for a minute before attempting to grab one of the many stuffed animals inside. She shifted a stuffed animal on her first attempt, barely missing grabbing it. She cursed at herself and attempted again.
“You almost had it. I never have been good with these machines.” Alice said as she watched Dana and smiled. Dana’s eyes were fully concentrated on the machine. Alice thought she looked cute, so determined to win the stuffed animal. Alice grinned more when she saw the claw drop the animal in the shoot and Dana reached in to pick it up.

So thrilled you found time to update! I am very happy to hear you plan to keep going with your excellent stories. I know your loyal readers (including me) will be waiting whenever you have a chance to post. On to the chapter… What a roller coaster. So many ups and downs. It can be so painful and so wonderful to go back over memories of a life together. Love all the touches with the stuffed animals and that Dana had both and still treasured them. Thank you so much for finding the time to get us an update. You rock, cougar!!
Better late than never, cougar, like my comment. Echoing everyone else, I have not given up on you and am grateful you take the time to give us an update even though you are super busy.
