    Freedom Fest Ch 9

    (Present)

Dana smiled again at the memory.  She couldn’t remember if she ever showed Alice that entry in her journal, but she always remembered writing it.  Dana always loved to write.  Over the years she had written Alice many letters and poems.  She always felt she could express herself better on paper.  Dana wondered if Alice still had the book of poems.  After receiving so many poems Alice had asked her to make a book of all of them.  Dana didn’t have a copy of all of her poems, but she managed to find enough to put together a book.  All of the poems had something to do with Alice and were written from the heart.  Dana laughed, wondering how many poems she had written for the second book that she never finished.  She never told Alice about the second book and figured Alice had never read most of the poems in it.  Dana hoped Alice still had the book and didn’t just throw it away or leave it laying around for everyone to read.  She cherished the book that was written from her heart and prayed that Alice did not just discard it like it meant nothing.

“A few nights later in that same living room is when you scared the hell out of me.”

    (December 2001)

Dana sat on Alice’s sofa trying to study for her finals.  Alice was laying across the sofa with her legs stretched across Dana’s lap reading a text book.  Dana put her books on the floor and leaned her head back, closing her eyes.  She had been quiet all night and she knew Alice was beginning to worry.  Dana lifted her head, removed Alice’s book and leaned down, laying her head on Alice’s abdomen.

Alice ran her fingers through Dana’s hair and felt her tremble.  “Dane what’s wrong.  You are beginning to scare me.”

Dana sat up, with tears glistening her eyes, she stared into Alice’s beautiful eyes knowing she would instantly read Alice’s reaction.  “Al, I’m falling in love with you.”

The shocked look in Alice’s eyes caused Dana’s stomach to flip and she quickly moved Alice’s legs out of the way and ran to the bathroom.  Tears streaked Dana’s cheeks.  Her worst fear of telling Alice she was in love with her came true.  Flashes of Ralph came flooding back.  Ralph had the same shocked look and a few days later she was gone forever.  Dana’s stomach flipped again when she heard the soft knock on the bathroom door.

    1. Sound like you are very busy 3 jobs,so people can’t even get one. Just don’t work so hard that you make yourself ill. That is from aold broad that is just about worked out. I love Dana she was sly and a wee bit gofy but so very sweet. Alice was lucky to have her love. thanks

    2. So thrilled you found time to update! I am very happy to hear you plan to keep going with your excellent stories. I know your loyal readers (including me) will be waiting whenever you have a chance to post. On to the chapter… What a roller coaster. So many ups and downs. It can be so painful and so wonderful to go back over memories of a life together. Love all the touches with the stuffed animals and that Dana had both and still treasured them. Thank you so much for finding the time to get us an update. You rock, cougar!!
