Julie was finished getting ready and had an hour to spare, when Sam came in. He asked where she was going to and she said out with the girls again. He was angry because they were meant to talk about their failing relationship. She asked him to follow her into the lounge and take a seat on the couch next to her. He could tell she was nervous and struggling to find the words to say.

Sam – “Hey, its ok you know, we can work this out, it just needs us both to work at our relationship.”

Julie – “Sam, this is so hard to say. You are a wonderful, kind and caring man. I do love you but not in the way you want me to.

Sam looked bewildered and said – “What do you mean?”

Julie hung her head low and whispered – “I am not in love with you, not how you want me to be anyway.”

Sam shook his head. Julie was just going to break up with him but decided he deserved to know the whole truth.

Julie – “Since I can remember I have had … certain feelings … oh God this is hard!”

Sam – “Just tell me, is there someone else?”

Julie – “No Sam, I have never cheated on you. When I was at college I was friendly with this girl and one thing led to another and we kissed.”

Sam – “Hey, girls try those things when they are younger, I don’t mind. It does not mean anything!”

Julie – “That’s what I am trying to tell you Sam. It meant more to me. Since I remember, I have had feelings for women …”

Sam – “Oh fuck … fuck … fuck!”

Sam got up and started to pace the room with his hands on either side of his face. Julie stood and moved towards him but angrily he warned her to stay away from him and that he could not believe it.

Julie – “Look I’m sorry. I’ve tried to ignore those feelings and when I met you I thought things maybe different.”

Sam – “But they obviously weren’t, hey?”
