Although Kit’s mom had passed, Bette’s mom was still alive and some even made a passing comment as to the fact that they would have thought that she may have turned up. They knew that the separation between them was hell; they assumed that Maxine would have turned up to comfort her daughter. Bette just quickly brushed off the remarks with ‘’I haven’t seen her in years and that the way I like it, I have all my family here with me now’’.

Kit’s son David had travelled from New York to be with his mother just after Melvin had passed and although their relationship had been strained over the years, they had started to build a mother and son relationship once again.

Bette, Tina and Angelica were as close as ever and all of the guest’s couldn’t believe that Bette was not the birth mother of Angelica, as the resemblance was remarkable. That made Tina’s heart grow close to bursting as that is exactly what they both wanted.

The day was nearing the end as people started to leave, promising to keep in touch with the two Porter girls. The gang, along with Bette who had Angelica asleep on her chest, Tina, Kit and Mrs Harrison were all gathered on a private table.

‘’Mrs Harrison, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for coming today, I know Daddy would have appreciated it.’’

‘’It was my pleasure Bette, your father was a very kindred man of sorts and I knew him for over thirty years. I know that your relationship was not always amicable, but he did love the both of you very much. You know he would often talk about both you and kit and get very frustrated with the way that you lived your lives, but he knew that he could not run it for you. You must understand that for him to acknowledge that kit had a drink and drug problem hurt him very much and he would often say, if she could only do it this way or that way, she would not be in the state that she was in at that particular time.

He came from a very strict background with a very strict and old fashioned way as to live your life. He was taught that once you married you married for life and it should be a man and woman in the relationship, a bit ironic really as he did have the affair with your mother whilst he was married to Kit’s mother. He thought that he had failed his father when that happened, although his father had died, he just did not want you and kit to turn out the way he did, so he was strict on you. But you girls being porter girls just did exactly what you wanted to do, which by the way is just like your father in so many ways.
