“6 weeks” Bette whispered processing it in her mind, they were still a couple at the time of conception. “But how Tee? I don’t understand?”

“I went to the cryobank myself one day when you were at work..I inseminated myself…I know the conception wasn’t memorable like our previous attempts but I just didn’t think WE could handle it…if it didn’t take, or worse…we had another miscarriage.  I figured that if the insemination worked I would tell you after the 3months stage..as the likely danger period for miscarrying had passed”. 

Bette kept her head, indicating so far she understood, and also that she was processing it

“I was so stunned when the doctor told me I was pregnant – I didn’t know what too do ..I had little money, no place to stay, no job…and worst of all no one to turn to” the blonde said sadly

“I would have given you money…I would have helped you through it if you’d have just came home” Bette said honestly

Tina looked down at her feet then said “I told you I couldn’t be near you…I hope you never feel the heartache of the person you love above all other betraying you…I was broken!…Such a mess!!.  It was as if those 8 years before had been a dream…I couldn’t remember any good times…I just knew I gave you my heart, you squeezed it, and then you broke it into tiny pieces”

“Baby we have talked about this-I always loved you!….Candace…she was a major fuck up! You and I… we stopped communicating, we were like passing ships in the night…I felt you didn’t want me near you!.. you most definitely didn’t want me intimately…”

“Honey I thought you were disappointed in me…I was half a woman I couldn’t even give you a child!”

“Tee you’re all women! No your not,  that generic!…Your my woman. I love you, .I’ll  always love you, and I promise we’ll sort this out”

Tina changed position and lay across Bette’s lap, Bette started absentmindedly caressing her hair with her hands and looked down at the blonde “So where did you go? Where did you stay?”

“With Kayleigh,  and her folks. Kayleigh’s never left my side since the night at the hospital, she had no job and so she had a lot of time on her hands” Kayleigh’s folks are lovely people: they fed me, clothed me and gave me a roof over my head…and they never once asked me for a penny.  Her mother and father were both brilliant with me throughout my pregnancy, and are in love with Angie! They don’t have any grandkids of their own yet…I’m not sure if they ever will!” she mused
