    Part Two: White Flag of Surrender..

     

    Tina wasn’t here with her.

     

    And today’s triumph, no matter how monumental, became nothing short of bittersweet.

     

    The one person she wanted to celebrate her success with was missing, and try as she might to see the bright side of it all, it just seemed pointless without the person who made her see beauty in the most mundane things. And in her overwhelming need to spend such a pivotal time in her life with the woman she loved the most in this world, her own desire kept her blissfully blind to the truth. The truth that no matter how hard she wished, no matter how desperately she hoped..

     

    Tina won’t be here to share in her victory.

     

    Her choices, despite how valiant the intentions behind them were, had pretty much cemented this sad truth.

     

    Bette Porter, even in the company of her closest friends and family, was on her own; and nothing pained her more than the knowledge that she had no one else to blame but herself.

     

    And yet..

     

    Despite everything.. despite the hurt and the disappointments, despite her sadness and self-pity.. Bette Porter was still in every sense of the word.. grateful. Yes, she was grateful.. and to the love of her life nonetheless. And this powerful, balancing emotion was the one that gave her the strength to wear a smile that was genuine enough to reach her eyes, to clap loudly till her palms began to hurt, and to cheer at the top of her lungs when the ceremonial handshake was finally exchanged. She glanced out the window, took a deep breath and thanked the skies above for today’s blessing. She was grateful, yes, she very much was. To everyone in this room but to Tina most especially. And the moment she accepted this revelation, the thick black fog surrounding her began to lift. Bette can do it.. she can smile through the blonde’s absence, she can rejoice despite her loneliness. She will hold no grudges, she will let go of all bitterness; cause when all was said and done, there was no denying the truth that without Tina Kennard’s love, she wouldn’t be here today. It was her trust.. her devotion.. her unyielding support despite the overwhelming odds.. it was her everything and more that empowered Bette; that encouraged her to trudge through life’s challenges despite how hopeless things seemed to be. It was Tina’s love that brought her here today. This moment was as much her triumph as it was hers.

    5. Wow, finally Tina is going after her woman. It took a lot of courage for her to face Jill. But now Tina is missing, and Bette is falling apart. Hope Tina is safe.
