Just The Girl – Chapter Eight (a HYD-inspired fic)
"What the fuck is going on down there?" Alice frowned as she looked down at the hysteria going on below in the main dining hall.
"I lifted the ban." Bette softly whispered in a daze.
"What?!" Alice shouted. "Why?"
"Did something happen again?" Shane leaned forward as she rested her elbows on the table and clasped her hands together.
Bette shrugged as she tried to play it cool. "I’m entitled to change my mind when I want to." Bette answered haughtily.
Alice sighed. "This day is just full of surprises." She rubbed her hands on her face. "First, you place a bullying ban on your mortal enemy slash secret crush, even going as far as threatening to red tag anyone who dared to treat her bad." Alice narrowed her eyes at Bette. "Now, in the middle of the day, you just up and decide to lift the ban?" She asked incredulously. "What the fuck Porter?" Alice exclaimed. "I want to slap YOU with a red tag right now."
"Stop it Al." Shane looked at the blonde evenly and shook her head. Knowing fully well that Bette was extremely volatile right now, and to push her would only mean more trouble for everyone involved. The best thing to do right now was to change the subject entirely. She coughed a little before she spoke up. "So umm.. where’s Sam?" She said the first thing that entered her mind.
Bette visibly flinched as she heard her best friend’s name. She took Alice and Shane by surprise as she quickly stood up and left the table in a huff, knocking back her chair to the floor in the process.

On the third floor balcony, completely oblivious to the chaos below, Tina and Sam finally pulled back from one another. The blonde had held on to her friend until she was sure that she had already cried her eyes out. Sam smiled gratefully at Tina as she wiped away the traces of tears on her face.
"Thanks." Sam sniffled. "I’m sorry if I’m being a little too sensitive right now."
"It’s fine." Tina smiled warmly. "Time of the month?" She teased.
"I wish I could say that it was." Sam laughed as she looked down at her feet, feeling a little embarrassed. "At least I would have an excuse."

I’m really enjoying this story so far, and can’t wait for Bette to stop being such an ass and make it right! Although I feel Tina’s going to take A LOT of persuasion to get her head round this one! pps x
way to go bette… thats one way to win someone over… i was wondering if sam was going to come to her rescue… but was happy to see bette stop that shit too… wow what a story… and i’m loving it… thanks for answering my questions… PPS
OMG my heart is pounding from that chapter! I can’t wait to see what happens next!
I can’t believe Bette let Tina get hurt like that. Poor Tina! Time for Bette to pull her head out of her wazoo and do the right thing for once in her self absorbed life.
this is so good and love it!
Loved the way you portrayed their feelings, but my question is: Does this type of hazing and bullying really happen in american schools? Nothing like that even came close to that in my high school, hell, even country..
