Just The Girl – Chapter Thirty (a HYD-inspired fic)

“..you just brought the date to us?” Tina finished with an amused expression on her face.

“Precisely.” Bette beamed. “So..” She cleared her throat and puffed her chest out. “Miss Kennard, would you do me the great honor of accompanying me on my first ride on a Ferris wheel?” She extended her hand and smiled brightly at the blonde.

Tina matched Bette’s posture and smiled. “I would love to, Miss Porter.” She laughed as she took Bette’s offered hand and walked with the brunette towards the ride.

“Wait right here.” Bette instructed as she left Tina by the side of one of the cars. She ran towards the main control panel and pressed a few buttons. Tina took the opportunity to study the machine up close. It was one of those classic Ferris wheels, the type you would normally see in traveling fairs. The only difference was that the ride in front of her looked safer than the scary masses of metal that she used to ride as a kid. It wasn’t as big as the one in Santa Monica though, this thing was just a medium-sized Ferris wheel, it wasn’t really that high. She observed the car up close and gently rocked it back and forth. Looks sturdy enough, she sighed in relief. “Where did you get this?” She asked Bette as soon as the brunette came back to her carrying a portable radio and a blanket.

“James showed me a few models on sale.” Bette bent down and placed the radio on the wooden deck and turned the dial to the station that she liked. She stood up as soft, easy listening music flowed through the speakers. “I didn’t like any of those garish and flashy new models in the market so I chose an antique.” She smiled as she placed the blanket on the seat. “Anyway, I like restoring old stuff.” She shrugged and stood in front of Tina.

“So, this thing really is an old model..” Tina pursed her lips together as she appreciated the excellent job done on the antiquated machine. “Its really nice.” She smiled as she slightly lifted up her skirt and took a seat, placing the gift on her lap. “Is this thing safe?” She asked the brunette for good measure. It seemed solid enough, but she just wanted to make sure.

    1. Another update -awesome. I was surprised by the Porter shaped cookies-I didn’t see that 1 coming. Very orginial & creative. Very romantic on the ferris wheel also.

    2. Alchemy, I just love this story!! Its one of those ones that literally as soon as I finish reading one chapter I’m desperate for another. You write so well and create such believable versions of all the girls. More please!!!
