Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 29B

“We’d better get out there.  You know how Super Shuttle is,” Tina prompted.  “Angus and Kit are going to meet us at the airport.  Angus wants to park in long term parking.”

“Okay,” Bette said.  “There’s something I want you to see.  Sit down.”  Bette pointed at the chair in front of the laptop that she had just vacated.

Tina glanced at the kitchen clock before she sat.  “We don’t have a lot of time.  What?”

    “It’ll only take a second.”

Bette pulled up a chair and sat beside her.  Angelica gurgled and laughed, pulled on Bette’s hair and then pulled on Tina’s.  Both women laughed.

“Look.”  Bette maximized the screen she had just minimized.

“Oh, you’re writing Mo before we leave,” she said with a smile.

    “Read it, baby.”

Tina leaned in while Bette bounced Angelica on her knee.

    Dear Mo,

What’s up?  Sorry for the lack of communication lately.  I’ve been working out some things in my head.  All worked out now, I’m pleased to say.

Tina and I were wondering if you have plans for Christmas.  We’d love for you to come out and visit.  I should tell you that we’ll have a wonderful Christmas dinner and you’ll have gifts under the tree, of course, but we have another reason for the invitation.  You might say we have a little activity planned for you if you’re still willing to participate. . . “

Tina finished reading it and looked at Bette.  “Serious?”

“I am.  I thought about it.  Everything you said was correct.  I want us to do this.  I’m all for adoption and want us to go through with that.  But-but, baby, I want our next baby to be a physical part of me, too."  They kissed and when they broke apart, Bette said, "Shall I click ‘Send’?”

Tina nodded and Bette put her hand over the mouse.  Tina placed her hand on top of Bette’s as Bette dragged the mouse to move the cursor over to the ‘SEND’ button.  Tina tightened her hand over Bette’s as her lover’s right forefinger clicked the left button and sent their invitation and request into the Ether.

    1. ‘ she looked at Tina and playfully accused, “Cougar.” ‘ – LOL – Tina certainly has come a long way from the first pages of ‘Laid Up’. – PortiaO, Thank you very much for producing all those wonderful pages!

    2. OH MY FUCKING GOD… that was … i have no words… i wish it didn’t end… that a scene i pray we see in the last eppy… loved it… and what a book you have here… it took a while to read… but i did…

    3. Wow, I don’t know what to say. The detail you give to each character and storyline is breathtaking. What a beautiful imagination you have. I love your writing so much that I even wanted Helena’s and Dylan’s past life story to never end :). I’m a little bit nervous that someting will happen to Shay before Shane can take custody. Who’s the mystery man at Alice and Dana’s wedding? A long lost relative of Alice’s? Wow, Bette and Tina, effing hot. Thank you so much for the update. Don’t be gone too long :)

    4. Portia… translating “thank you” into all the known languages on this planet wouldn’t be enough at this point. I know I type it, and I certainly mean it, but it lacks… I don’t know anything else to say but that, though. So, again, thank you. You manage to get everything in there, and I don’t know why, but the “Sweatin to the 80’s” line made me giggle, a lot. You have a very visual style of writing, I’m right there with the characters. I see them, hear them perfectly. I love the way you write, I love this story. Thanks (again) for sharing with us.

    5. Yes, you’ve got me googling folks that don’t exist. You’ve created an entire world, fleshed it out and populated it with people whose lives are fully integrated into it. You’ve made TLW, “Do what it (should)do”.

    6. I have totally been floored by this story!! this last chapter totally knocked my socks off!!! I’m so glad Bette had the change of heart about mo…. this should be really interesting! PPS

    7. I miss this story. :( It’s so awesome and realistic. And it shows so much growth in the characters while staying true to them at the same time. And the storylines are just fantastic. *sigh* Yeah, I miss this story.
