Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 31 (Conclusion and Epilogue)

There are times when Bette and Tina stay in the City with Angelica and Tamara at Helena and Dylan’s penthouse and Dylan says it reminds her of the commune she lived on growing up in Northern California except more ritzy.

Kit and Angus are touring the country, working small clubs and venues as they promote Kit’s second successful album.  They have toured many of the major cities in the Midwest and are heading to the East Coast starting south in Miami, then working their way up the coast, stopping in Atlanta for three concerts including one at Lakewood Amphitheatre, then on to Mac’s on Main in Columbia, South Carolina, Tremont Music Hall in Charlotte, the Birchmere in northern Virginia, the Black Cat in DC, then two clubs in Philly, and finally New York where their tour ends at the Knitting Factory.  After that, Angus and Kit are going to spend some down-time with Bette, Tina, and their nieces.

When Kit and Angus return to LA, they will be moving back into the house they purchased from Bette and Tina in West Hollywood.  Yes, Kit and Angus now live together and Kit likes it.

Peggy Peabody is back to her bon vivant ways in New York.  When she and Marilyn aren’t entertaining Helena, Dylan, Bette, and Tina, they are entertaining the movers and shakers of Manhattan’s art and political circles.  Peggy hosts bi-monthly Saturday night salons and it’s a guest list that everyone wants to be on.  Mayor Bloomberg has been denied a spot on the guest list repeatedly, but Andrew Cuomo is a regular.  She believes he would make a great governor in the near future.  On Sundays, Peggy and Marilyn attend a Unitarian Universalist church where Marilyn works as an assistant minister.  They are planning a trip to Egypt and Petra in the summer.

Stephanie Kennard-McPherson and her husband Henry are expecting their first child in about four months.  Mikey is very excited about having a younger brother or sister.  Stephanie is still working at CU and going to weekly therapy.  She has made great headway and is healing nicely.

Theresa Kennard has left the Peace Corps and has returned to North Carolina to live with her elderly parents.  No one ever discusses the suspicious drowning death of her ex-husband, but Theresa and her father seem to share a secret.

    1. Portia, congrats on finishing this epic! I will always be a fan, and I was very happy to be one of the people to encourage you, and who knows–maybe you’ll have another fanfic in you that will need to come out! You’ve inspired so many of the writers here, so thank you, and I hope we’ll see you around!xoxo

    2. wow what can i say, this story has been the best time and time again and i can say that i’ve enjoyed every bit of it, though I’m extremely sad that this is it for laid up. My favourite couple have obviously been dana and alice, and you’ve written them and their story just perfectly, how it should have been, for me anyway. For every chapter, page and word….THANK YOU PORTIA!!!!!!!!!!! xox

    4. Oh PortiaOnly I can only say a heart felt Thank you for brining us this impressive and comprehensive epic. I have ready this story from the start. It has always amazed me how you wound the pieces of the series into this complete work. I love where you have taken all of them and how it was so true to the characters we have know. Thanks for all you hard work.

    5. Portia, thank you so much for this epic love story. I’m happy that all of the characters are happy and content. The loop holes that the show had created, you have thoroughly patched. That for me is remarkable. Jenny’s death in season 5 and her magazine being thrown in the pool – what can I say, your attention to detail is a gold standard in fanfic. Kudos to you and also Wendy for creating this wonderful story.

    6. Thanks so much for sharing this incredible journey with us. This is one of the best and engaging stories I have ever read. You are an remarkable talent!!

    7. Thank you for this story. What an undertaking! You got all the main characters involved and kept me interested. And more importantly, you finished it. I love that!

    9. I read this chapter as slowly as I could so that I could savor every word of it. It was worth me taking the time, although I was fully aware that each time I clicked “Next page” I was that much closer to the finish. This was a fantastic end to such a richly layered story. Everyone got their ending, and each and every one of them earned it… the struggles each couple/family had to overcome to get to their happiness made it all the more believable. You didn’t cheat, Portia, not the readers, not the story. This has been such an absolute treat to read, through all the highs and lows, and I’ve loved every single word of it. (And kudos for not forgetting Jenny this chapter! heh) Thank you, Portia, for writing this story and taking us on the journey with you. Take care, and I hope we see another story from you soon.

    11. Hello PortiaOnly, This story has been an absolute joy to read. It has taken much time and dedication from you to create a momentous melodrama. So many of the images and scenes including dialogue where taken from the show and seemlessly interweaved in to your take on events.I stand up and applaud you and your wonderful talent.Thank you ever so much for sharing it with me.Your Loyal Fan.PS – I hope that you continue to write about these characters and post your work here.

    12. well after about a month and a half im finally finish with your story and as I wrote you before I truly believe you are a gift to writing and taking readers along for the experience. You did an absolutely remarkable job with this. The story telling, the storyline, the interweaving of the characters, seasons, cannon and AU was beyond incredible. You have amazing talent and I hope to read more of your incredible work. Amazingly done!
