    Bette, Tina, Dana, Alice, Shane, Carmen, Helena, Dylan, Kit, Angus, Peggy, and Marilyn discover what John Lennon said in the song, “Beautiful Boy” is absolutely true: “Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans.”

    “All right.  Thanks.”  Bette watched Helena go into the kitchen and for the briefest second, she felt the stirring of jealousy, but it was gone immediately.  She turned to Mo to ask him about the Community Redevelopment Agency job.

    “I don’t know what happened, Bette.  I was…over my head?” he had been questioning the bad panel interview for days.  “New York is great.  Honestly, I’ll probably be happier there anyway.  I’m sorry about us, though.”

    “You can visit.  We can visit.”  Bette was disappointed, too.

    * * * * *

    Tina’s back was to the patio door, standing at the counter, slicing one of the sweet potato pies. She heard someone enter and turned around.  “Oh, “Hi, Helena.  Did you need something?”

    “Tina, if I could have a word?”

    “Sure.”  Tina turned and leaned against the edge of the counter.  “What’s up?”

    “Oh, I didn’t mean to trouble you.  Would you like some help?”  Helena walked to the counter and looked at the torte and pie.  She gently pushed Tina out of the way and began to slice them into wedges. 

    “I remember you do your best thinking in the kitchen and it looks like you have something on your mind?” Tina said.

    “Rumor has it that you’ve purchased the rights to the book, Twisted Forest,” Helena said without turning around.

    “God, how’d you find that out?  I was just now able to pull together the money for it.”  Tina took a bowl of whipped cream that the caterers had made fresh from the refrigerator and placed it on a serving tray. 

    “I’m acquainted with a woman at HarperCollins.  I was actually lunching with her about something else entirely and she mentioned that one of her authors, Joanna Beaton had sold the movie rights to her book to a…and I quote, ‘a family member in Los Angeles.’  She thought I might know the woman.  Imagine my surprise when the lesbian turned out to be Tina Kennard.”

    Tina laughed.  “Sad, isn’t it?  I’ve won some major awards.  I had a pretty good career as a Development Exec going before I took a break from working, and all this year, people know me as the producer of Dylan’s film, yet I’m just another lesbian in LA.”

My favourite couple have obviously been dana and alice, and you’ve written them and their story just perfectly, how it should have been, for me anyway. It has always amazed me how you wound the pieces of the series into this complete work. I love where you have taken all of them and how it was so true to the characters we have know.     6. Portia, thank you so much for this epic love story. I’m happy that all of the characters are happy and content. The loop holes that the show had created, you have thoroughly patched. That for me is remarkable. Jenny’s death in season 5 and her magazine being thrown in the pool – what can I say, your attention to detail is a gold standard in fanfic. Kudos to you and also Wendy for creating this wonderful story.

    13. I read this chapter as slowly as I could so that I could savor every word of it. It was worth me taking the time, although I was fully aware that each time I clicked “Next page” I was that much closer to the finish. This was a fantastic end to such a richly layered story. Everyone got their ending, and each and every one of them earned it… the struggles each couple/family had to overcome to get to their happiness made it all the more believable. You didn’t cheat, Portia, not the readers, not the story. This has been such an absolute treat to read, through all the highs and lows, and I’ve loved every single word of it. (And kudos for not forgetting Jenny this chapter! heh) Thank you, Portia, for writing this story and taking us on the journey with you. Take care, and I hope we see another story from you soon.

    18. well after about a month and a half im finally finish with your story and as I wrote you before I truly believe you are a gift to writing and taking readers along for the experience. I had to stop several times for work or sleep but it was well worth the time. I prolonged finishing the last chapter didn’t want t see it end, but like the L word, like tibette chemistry, all good things but come to end….Bravo!! my friend I hope to see a book with your name on it forreal..til next story………

You did an absolutely remarkable job with this. The story telling, the storyline, the interweaving of the characters, seasons, cannon and AU was beyond incredible. You have amazing talent and I hope to read more of your incredible work. Amazingly done!
