“I’m thankful for the two McCutcheons—Shane and Shay. Every day is different with these two. They make it all good.”
Dylan looked at Helena and said, “I’m thankful that I am living and not just existing, so that means I’m thankful for Helena.”
Helena gripped Dylan’s hand as she stood and said, “I love this American tradition of Thanksgiving. One day of the year, you can say what’s exactly in your heart, yeah? No one laughs. One day of the year, we can tell the world that we’re thankful someone loves us and we’re thankful we love them as much. I never thought I’d have mates like you. I came out to LA on a whim and it changed my life. I have the best mates and the best partner. And mummy and I are getting on famously.”
Marilyn spoke quickly and softly. “I thought I’d never have love again in my life—that I was too old and the dreams of youth were now just memories. Thankfully, the Goddess has informed me life isn’t over, but just beginning and the love I had years ago is the love I have now. Life is large and the gifts are bountiful.”
Peggy was next. “Well, I don’t usually go for this sort of thing. I find it so…commonplace.”
Helena, Dylan, and Marilyn looked at Peggy to let her know she was being offensive.
“However,” Peggy continued, “I’m actually enjoying this. I am thankful for my beautiful daughter who is as brilliant as I always knew she was. I am thankful for Ms. Dylan Moreland who has claimed and calmed my daughter’s heart, but not broken my Helena’s spirit; so thankful for my two lovely grandchildren and one hopes that Helena with her powers of persuasion and maternal instincts might give me more.”
Helena laughed and Dylan glanced over at her. This was second time that someone had mentioned Helena’s love of children and pregnant women. She wasn’t ready for that kind of commitment and didn’t know if she’d ever be. She always thought of herself as a woman without children.
Peggy continued, “And finally, I’m grateful for my second chance. I won’t make the same mistakes.”

It has always amazed me how you wound the pieces of the series into this complete work. I love where you have taken all of them and how it was so true to the characters we have know. Portia, thank you so much for this epic love story. I’m happy that all of the characters are happy and content. The loop holes that the show had created, you have thoroughly patched. That for me is remarkable. Jenny’s death in season 5 and her magazine being thrown in the pool – what can I say, your attention to detail is a gold standard in fanfic. Kudos to you and also Wendy for creating this wonderful story.

I read this chapter as slowly as I could so that I could savor every word of it. It was worth me taking the time, although I was fully aware that each time I clicked “Next page” I was that much closer to the finish. This was a fantastic end to such a richly layered story. Everyone got their ending, and each and every one of them earned it… the struggles each couple/family had to overcome to get to their happiness made it all the more believable. You didn’t cheat, Portia, not the readers, not the story. This has been such an absolute treat to read, through all the highs and lows, and I’ve loved every single word of it. (And kudos for not forgetting Jenny this chapter! heh) Thank you, Portia, for writing this story and taking us on the journey with you. Take care, and I hope we see another story from you soon.

well after about a month and a half im finally finish with your story and as I wrote you before I truly believe you are a gift to writing and taking readers along for the experience. I had to stop several times for work or sleep but it was well worth the time. I prolonged finishing the last chapter didn’t want t see it end, but like the L word, like tibette chemistry, all good things but come to end….Bravo!! my friend I hope to see a book with your name on it forreal..til next story………
