Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 31 (Conclusion and Epilogue)

Wilson shouted into the computer, “I think it’s weird.”

    “So do I.  I think it’s weird,” Jun-Ying agreed.

“Well, my little monkeys, I can assure you that we won’t be having this turducken over our Christmas holiday.”

“Will we have Christmas goose?  I love that,”

“Umm, it’s so good,” Jun-Ying said.  “Can we Mummy?”

“I think we can arrange for goose.”

“I’ve never tasted goose,” Dylan said engaging the children.

Both of Helena’s children were surprised.  “Really?” Wilson asked.  “It’s so yummy.  Mummy will make it for you.”

Dylan wondered which cook Helena would employ to roast the bird.

“You like my goose, yeah?” Helena laughed.

“It’s delicious, Mum,” Jun-Ying answered for both of them.

“Thank you, Jun-Ying.  So, what are your plans today?  I hear that you and your grandmamma are doing something special.”

“Oh, yeah.  We are going to get man-cures and pet-cures.”

Dylan covered her mouth and laughed.  She whispered to Helena, “I had my man-cure when I met you.”

The children watched as their mother kissed Dylan on the lips.  For a few seconds, Helena stared warmly at Dylan before turning back to her children.

“Mummy, will I still like cats and dogs and horses after my pet-cure?”

    “I believe you will.”

“Grandpa-pa is taking me to his friend’s house and we’re going to make horse shoes.  He says it’s fun, but I didn’t even know horses wore shoes. He said that we pick up the shoe and from far away, we throw it.  But what if the horse doesn’t have its foot up?  We might miss.”

“It’s called a hoof, love.  I think you and your grandpa-pa are going to be playing a game of horseshoes.  Do you remember when you studied Greek Gods and Goddesses?”

    “Yeah.”

“Well even back then, they played horseshoes, so you are going to be playing a game with a long history.”

    “Wow.  That’s interesting, Mummy.”

“Dylan and I want you two to have fun with your grandparents.  Send them my best, won’t you?”

    ‘Yeah,” Jun-Ying said.

“Put your mummy on the phone.  I’d like to speak with her for a moment.  I love you two and we’ll see you in a few days, yeah?

    1. Portia, congrats on finishing this epic! I will always be a fan, and I was very happy to be one of the people to encourage you, and who knows–maybe you’ll have another fanfic in you that will need to come out! You’ve inspired so many of the writers here, so thank you, and I hope we’ll see you around!xoxo

    2. wow what can i say, this story has been the best time and time again and i can say that i’ve enjoyed every bit of it, though I’m extremely sad that this is it for laid up. My favourite couple have obviously been dana and alice, and you’ve written them and their story just perfectly, how it should have been, for me anyway. For every chapter, page and word….THANK YOU PORTIA!!!!!!!!!!! xox

    4. Oh PortiaOnly I can only say a heart felt Thank you for brining us this impressive and comprehensive epic. I have ready this story from the start. It has always amazed me how you wound the pieces of the series into this complete work. I love where you have taken all of them and how it was so true to the characters we have know. Thanks for all you hard work.

    5. Portia, thank you so much for this epic love story. I’m happy that all of the characters are happy and content. The loop holes that the show had created, you have thoroughly patched. That for me is remarkable. Jenny’s death in season 5 and her magazine being thrown in the pool – what can I say, your attention to detail is a gold standard in fanfic. Kudos to you and also Wendy for creating this wonderful story.

    6. Thanks so much for sharing this incredible journey with us. This is one of the best and engaging stories I have ever read. You are an remarkable talent!!

    7. Thank you for this story. What an undertaking! You got all the main characters involved and kept me interested. And more importantly, you finished it. I love that!

    9. I read this chapter as slowly as I could so that I could savor every word of it. It was worth me taking the time, although I was fully aware that each time I clicked “Next page” I was that much closer to the finish. This was a fantastic end to such a richly layered story. Everyone got their ending, and each and every one of them earned it… the struggles each couple/family had to overcome to get to their happiness made it all the more believable. You didn’t cheat, Portia, not the readers, not the story. This has been such an absolute treat to read, through all the highs and lows, and I’ve loved every single word of it. (And kudos for not forgetting Jenny this chapter! heh) Thank you, Portia, for writing this story and taking us on the journey with you. Take care, and I hope we see another story from you soon.

    11. Hello PortiaOnly, This story has been an absolute joy to read. It has taken much time and dedication from you to create a momentous melodrama. So many of the images and scenes including dialogue where taken from the show and seemlessly interweaved in to your take on events.I stand up and applaud you and your wonderful talent.Thank you ever so much for sharing it with me.Your Loyal Fan.PS – I hope that you continue to write about these characters and post your work here.

    12. well after about a month and a half im finally finish with your story and as I wrote you before I truly believe you are a gift to writing and taking readers along for the experience. I had to stop several times for work or sleep but it was well worth the time. 14. PortiaOnly- I hope you receive this message so many years after writing this incredible story but I had to tell you, this is by far one of the most amazing L Word stories I’ve ever read. You did an absolutely remarkable job with this. The story telling, the storyline, the interweaving of the characters, seasons, cannon and AU was beyond incredible. You have amazing talent and I hope to read more of your incredible work. Amazingly done!
