“Honey, it’s not that bad. We’re not at fuckin’ Wal-Mart or Best Buy. Those places are madhouses today.”
“We’re still at the mall and there are a thousand people here before six in the morning. It’s ridiculous.”
“It’s not ridiculous, Dane. It’s Black Friday.”
“You know I like to do online shopping,” Dana rolled her eyes and her body in an undulating shrug that was more in keeping with that of an annoyed nine year old than an adult.
“But we’re not shopping for you, sweetie and I want to see the pregnant lady clothes in person. I promise we’ll be out of Motherhood Maternity in two hours.”
“Two hours?”
“Hey, I’ve gotta look nice. I’m representin’, right? You want me in the stands at one of your tourneys in some old, hideous 1980s maternity dress with a bow in the front?”
“No.”
“Then two hours is about right. Keep it up, Dana and we’ll be here until Noon. Here…” Alice opened a paper bag and pulled out a large slice of zucchini bread that they had picked up at The Planet. “It’s still warm.”
“What about coffee?”
Alice stared at her.
“Oh, all right,” she said and crossed her arms. Dana stared at the door, willing it to open. The sooner she got in, the sooner she could get out.

“Mummy, did you eat turkey yesterday?” Jun-Ying asked.
“I did. It was quite good. How was your turkey?”
“We didn’t have it. We had turkey, and chicken, and duck.”
“Three different poultry?”
Wilson suddenly appeared in the webcam. “No, only one, Mummy. It’s called Turducken. Grandpa made it. It took him all day.”
“Turducken?” Helena stared at her children’s images.
“Yep, it’s a turkey inside…” Wilson began.
Jun-Ying cut him off. “Nu-uh. No, Mummy, it’s a chicken inside a duck inside a turkey.”
“What?” Helena looked flummoxed by this. She glanced at Dylan.
“She’s right. I’ve heard of it.” Dylan nodded her head.
“Dylan, have you ever had turducken?” Jun-Ying asked.
Dylan stepped into the frame. “Nope, I’ve never had it. It seems kind of weird to me. You guys don’t think it’s weird?.”

My favourite couple have obviously been dana and alice, and you’ve written them and their story just perfectly, how it should have been, for me anyway. Portia, thank you so much for this epic love story. I’m happy that all of the characters are happy and content. The loop holes that the show had created, you have thoroughly patched. That for me is remarkable. Jenny’s death in season 5 and her magazine being thrown in the pool – what can I say, your attention to detail is a gold standard in fanfic. Kudos to you and also Wendy for creating this wonderful story.

I read this chapter as slowly as I could so that I could savor every word of it. It was worth me taking the time, although I was fully aware that each time I clicked “Next page” I was that much closer to the finish. This was a fantastic end to such a richly layered story. Everyone got their ending, and each and every one of them earned it… the struggles each couple/family had to overcome to get to their happiness made it all the more believable. You didn’t cheat, Portia, not the readers, not the story. This has been such an absolute treat to read, through all the highs and lows, and I’ve loved every single word of it. (And kudos for not forgetting Jenny this chapter! heh) Thank you, Portia, for writing this story and taking us on the journey with you. Take care, and I hope we see another story from you soon.

well after about a month and a half im finally finish with your story and as I wrote you before I truly believe you are a gift to writing and taking readers along for the experience. I had to stop several times for work or sleep but it was well worth the time. I prolonged finishing the last chapter didn’t want t see it end, but like the L word, like tibette chemistry, all good things but come to end….Bravo!! my friend I hope to see a book with your name on it forreal..til next story………
