Late Afternoon Visit (Time of Day 23)
“But you want more.”
“It’s not something I’ve considered.” Not lately, she added on, still wondering how this odd turn had arisen.
“That’s not what’s being said.”
“Who’s saying that?” If Bette wasn’t so certain that she was awake, she’d think she was in the midst of some bad dream. Why was Jodi here, anyway?
“Your little Tina. I saw her, she was bragging to one of her friends about the two of you.”
“Bragging?”
“About how you had more ‘donations’ to use.” As Jodi said the word donations, she mimicked a guy jacking-off, to make sure there was no question about the discussion.
“Look, Jodi. When I went to see you it wasn’t because of children or because of Tina.”
“But you are seeing Tina?”
“I’m…” Bette took a seat on a chair in the living room. “I don’t know. We’ve been talking.”
“So you lied.”
“What?”
“You lied about why you’re not interested.”
“I did not.” Bette had developed a headache prior to lying down. Now, with the stress of this conversation, the pounding behind her eyes had resumed. “Jodi, we’re two different people, we can’t work.”
Jodi sat herself on the couch. “Why not?”
“What?”
“I deserve an explanation?”
“Oh, like I deserved one when you took off for New York?”
“I never asked you to follow.” Jodi shook her head. “I discouraged you.”
“I wasn’t thinking clearly.”
Jodi got up, keeping her gaze fixed on Bette. She leaned on the arm of the chair with one hand. With the other she traced her fingers over Bette’s cheek, down Bette’s neck, and over the top of the tank top.
Through it all, Bette sat, transfixed. Part of her wanted to get up, to push Jodi away. Anything. Another part of her really wanted the intimacy.
“Did this bring you to New York?” As she continued to talk, Jodi’s hand ran over Bette’s breast, her fingers pinching at the hardening nipple through the fabric.
The hand started to move again. Lower this time. The fingers dipped just within the waistband of the yoga pants. “How about this?”

I had thought it might be Jodi but didn’t think about her being in NY and then making the trek back to Cali. Good to know it wasn’t Paige.
Oh, and thanks for giving us the missing puzzle piece.
oh ugh! YOU TRULLY ARE A EVIL WOMEN..wink let them work this out tibette that is.p.p.s.sneakie of jodie planting a bugg in bettes ear.
SHYT…..MORE
Glad to see that you put in the missing puzzle piece. Jodi’s in town, do I sense that Tina will be getting a visit or Jodi will happen by The Planet? Will we get a much deserved cat fight over Bette? Thanks for posting so fast.
Still think Bette acted like a complete dick to Tina. However, I guess this makes Jodi pretty much a massively uncool manipulator. Bette better buck up, act like an adult, and put aside her BS even if she doesn’t want to get with Tina at this point.. she should apologize so they can be cool for Angelica. You know, be an “adult.” Still reading. I guess I must like a story if I actually get pissed at characters in a fanfic. PPS.
Funny I’d been guessing Henry somehow – anyway hate this monkey wrench – the course of true love never did run smooth for these two. Thanks for filling in the gap Pseud although I’d rather have skipped another misunderstanding actually.
Time for Tina to put Jodi in her place.
pseud…Great writing and story. Interesting Bette and Tina and they are open and vulnerable but also have backbone. PPS.
This only made me like Jodi less than before (as you know like isn’t the word) and Bette no better. The stupid-ass games they play with each other and themselves. If Bette really is this unsure and so easily disturbed, she really shouldn’t be with ANYBODY.
“Will Tina do that for you?” …and the answer is: “Hell, yes! That and more!” …Jodi is a sh*t-stirrer. Uh-huh! There, I said it! …Thanks!
i noticed that your chapters go in “zigzag” pattern and not in order, remind me of a book i read, where all the chapters were posted out of order but those who wanted to follow, could read it either way…anyway, how did jodi know what tina was talking about? she wasn’t even close to them…well, i hope B&T will solve this little misunderstanding soon
So… It was Jodi. I guess that’s what made Bette so sure. I guess that explains part of why Bette was so angry too, she was all het up from not getting any and the Scotch couldn’t have helped matters. It doesn’t explain why Bette is so scared though, why she denied Tina three times before the fiery bird started crowing, or why she was *such* a berk when Tina came to see her. Maybe once they both calm down they can try to talk, but Tina’s kiss goodbye to Bette all seemed a bit Michael and Fredo. Guess I’ll have to wait and see. Post soon, pseud.
Well, I still think that Bette is an ass. Jodi or no Jodi, Paige, even Alice the Mouth, Bette needs to be able to talk to Tina, regardless of the situation. These two act like teenagers. And maybe because I accept the fact that Bette is an Ass, I expect that Tina will be the grown up and not allow Bette to get away with that crap! Thanks for the lost chapter. I vote for Jodi to get her ass on a plane back to NY…she’s a pot stirrer
Bette and Tina need to sit down and talk. No Jodi or Henry, just them. That was a Bad Jodi. I love it PPS
Time for Tina to claim her woman How could Jodie hear what Tina said, or was she reading her lips. Jodie could be playing dirty Pool. thanks
this helps but still pisses me off. babies all of them. thanks.
Excellent. Thanks for the missing piece :) Now Bette needs to go and talk to Tina
Bette is acting like a child. This Bette doesn’t deserve to be with anyone. I hope Tina lets her stew and makes her let someone else pick up and return Angelica. Please post soon. Love this story. I loathe Jodi even more if thats even possible.
This is driving me crazy and why Jodi still in the picture, she need to go!
