    A “lost” installment, in which Bette receives an unexpected visitor.

     

    Bette knew that if this continued, she’d pass the point of no return. She put her hand around Jodi’s wrist, taking control.

     

    A small part of her still wanted to take the hand and plunge it lower, to let Jodi bring her pleasure, bring her to release.

     

    But Bette knew that whatever enjoyment she’d receive from the sex now, this act wouldn’t help going forward. To go forward, the two of them would need more than just sex. Right now, Bette was convinced that they didn’t have a relationship that was sustainable on anything but a physical level. “No,” she said, putting her hand around Jodi’s wrist and taking control of the hand, of the situation.

     

    Skirting around Jodi, Bette got out of the chair, again putting distance between them.

     

    “Will Tina do that for you?”

     

    “I don’t know.” Bette admitted, honestly.

     

    “Think about that, then.” With that, Jodi turned and left.

     

    Bette stared at the door for minutes, before walking into the dining room and pouring herself a Scotch.

     

    Taking the glass, she went out to the patio and sat on a chaise, sipping the drink. Thinking.

     

    She and Tina had agreed to try, but what did that mean. Did, all of a sudden, that mean that Tina wanted the world?

     

    While Jodi wasn’t unbiased, why would she lie about the conversation? Who was Tina telling all of this to? One person? More than one?

     

    And what if they failed as a couple. Again. What then?

     

    Would the result be more children passed back and forth? As much as Bette loved her daughter, the thought of having more at this point didn’t make sense.

     

    But they did have the ‘donations,’ as Jodi so crudely put it. And how would she know that if Tina hadn’t been speaking of such things? That’s the one thing that made the story believable, the details that the two of them rarely shared.

     

    Dammit.

     

    Was it worth trying again? Risking huge colossal failure, again?

    The last time she split with Tina, Bette thought her world would end. What would another split do personally? Professionally?

     

    The thoughts of failure were almost overwhelming.

     

    Bette sat by the pool. Tina would be here in an hour, probably.

     

    And then when? Should she ask her about what Tina had been saying? Ask to whom Tina had been spilling secrets? Confess that she wanted to sleep with Jodi, if only for release.

     

    Damn.

     

    On some level Bette thought she was ready for anything. But Jodi? Tina? This?

     

    Damn.

    5. Glad to see that you put in the missing puzzle piece. Jodi’s in town, do I sense that Tina will be getting a visit or Jodi will happen by The Planet? Will we get a much deserved cat fight over Bette? Thanks for posting so fast.

    6. Still think Bette acted like a complete dick to Tina. However, I guess this makes Jodi pretty much a massively uncool manipulator. Bette better buck up, act like an adult, and put aside her BS even if she doesn’t want to get with Tina at this point.. she should apologize so they can be cool for Angelica. You know, be an “adult.” Still reading. I guess I must like a story if I actually get pissed at characters in a fanfic. PPS.

    7. Funny I’d been guessing Henry somehow – anyway hate this monkey wrench – the course of true love never did run smooth for these two. Thanks for filling in the gap Pseud although I’d rather have skipped another misunderstanding actually.

    10. This only made me like Jodi less than before (as you know like isn’t the word) and Bette no better. The stupid-ass games they play with each other and themselves. If Bette really is this unsure and so easily disturbed, she really shouldn’t be with ANYBODY.

    12. i noticed that your chapters go in “zigzag” pattern and not in order, remind me of a book i read, where all the chapters were posted out of order but those who wanted to follow, could read it either way…anyway, how did jodi know what tina was talking about? she wasn’t even close to them…well, i hope B&T will solve this little misunderstanding soon

    13. So… It was Jodi. I guess that’s what made Bette so sure. I guess that explains part of why Bette was so angry too, she was all het up from not getting any and the Scotch couldn’t have helped matters. It doesn’t explain why Bette is so scared though, why she denied Tina three times before the fiery bird started crowing, or why she was *such* a berk when Tina came to see her. Maybe once they both calm down they can try to talk, but Tina’s kiss goodbye to Bette all seemed a bit Michael and Fredo. Guess I’ll have to wait and see. Post soon, pseud.

    14. Well, I still think that Bette is an ass. Jodi or no Jodi, Paige, even Alice the Mouth, Bette needs to be able to talk to Tina, regardless of the situation. These two act like teenagers. And maybe because I accept the fact that Bette is an Ass, I expect that Tina will be the grown up and not allow Bette to get away with that crap! Thanks for the lost chapter. I vote for Jodi to get her ass on a plane back to NY…she’s a pot stirrer

    19. Bette is acting like a child. This Bette doesn’t deserve to be with anyone. I hope Tina lets her stew and makes her let someone else pick up and return Angelica. Please post soon. Love this story. I loathe Jodi even more if thats even possible.
