Let It Happen – Chapter VI

“May we come in please?,” the man asked, with a steely glint in his eye.
“Do I have a choice?,” Tina asked archly.
“No… you don’t,” he admitted.
Tina glanced at the man who worked the front desk. He nodded imperceptibly.
“Some ID please,” Tina said firmly.
“We don’t work for any government, but we do work for some powerful people. They can ask the government to show you any ID that you want,” the man said coolly.
“Okay…which people,” Tina was just as cool, standing her ground.
The man had a cruel smile, and bared teeth like fangs when he did smile. He handed Tina a business card, with the name of the CEO of a controversial firm that supplied security forces in countries in conflict. It had been in the headlines several times over the years.
“Do you want to call him?,” the man asked.
”No… I want you to call him,” Tina responded evenly.
He gestured to the man next to him, who handed him the phone. It was already ringing.
“She’d like some ID,” he said simply, then handed Tina the phone.
“Hello, miss?,” Tina heard a voice come on the line.
“I can call anyone you’d like me to, but in the interest of time, and everything else, I would appreciate it if you would please let my men in, and let them have a look around, if you don’t mind.”
“Actually…,” Tina started.
“Consider it a favor you’ll be able to call in, anytime in the future…” the man cut in, paused for a second, then hung up.
Tina handed the phone back to the man, and stepped aside.
The three dark-suited men walked in, while Tina hung back, to wait for the man from the front desk.
He followed them in quickly, turned to Tina, and without saying anything, handed her a single pink rose.
He looked at her meaningfully. Her hands shook while she took the rose, and followed him in.
The first man stood in the middle of the suite, and smiled his cruel smile.
”Hey… this is nice. Real nice,” he said as he looked around.
“The guys will just take a quick look around, and we’ll be off your hair.”
Before Tina could respond, he asked quickly, “By the way, do you know this woman?”

I want you ask something – how many comments have you got on “old” site in the chapter when Tina confessed Bette that she cheated on her? How bad where they?
Don’t remember how many, but most of the comments (if not all) indicated people “felt” Bette’s pain.
Deleted previous comment – i was wrong with timing of Tina’s cheating. Yeah it was after DС, when they were in NY already. And therefore of course it as cheating
… and now you add mystery and suspense to the romance ; this marvellous story keeps me captivated and totally holds spellbound !
It’s official – I’m addicted. Period.
