“Lets introduce our starting Raven line up.” As the announcer called out their name the girls ran out from the dugout to their positions and continued to warm up. Jess was playing catcher and Kelly the pitcher.

“Now for the Wildcats.” The sea of green and blue jumped to their feet and cheered. As the announcer called their names they stepped out of the visitor dugout. After the announcer reminded the fans in the stadium to be good sportsmen the game began.

Bette, Tina, and Jess pull up in the drive way. Kate is waiting on the porch.

“Hey Kate you’re early.” Bette said. Tina helped Jess get her bat bag out of the trunk.

“I was hoping to get her early so we could get on the road. Mom wanted us to be there for dinner. Jake, Ben, and Alyssa got there this morning with their families.” Kate said.

“Oh she is all packed. I think.” Bette said. Tina and Jess walked up.

“Hey Jess. How was the game?” Kate asked.

“Hey Aunt Kate. It was Good. We won 6-2.” Jess looked up revealing a black eye.

“Oh my god How did that happen?” Kate said tilting Jess’s head up to get a better look.

“She threw her helmet off to get a foul ball and the batter threw the bat and hit her in the face.” Tina said as they walked up the front stairs. Once inside Jess went and changed out of her uniform.

“Here is all her stuff. When will you guys be back?” Bette asked sitting Jess’s suitcase down next to the door.

“We should be back Tuesday no later than 4. Are you sure it is okay that she misses school and practice?” Kate asked.

“Yeah I talked to the principle and the coach they both said that it was okay.” Said Bette. Jess walked into the living room holding her face.

“Mom, my face hurts.” Jess said sitting down in Bette’s lap.

“I sure it does.” Bette said holding Jess like she did when she was little.

“Here this should help.” Tina handed Jess some Children’s Tylenol and a juice box. “I’ll get you some Ice.” Tina walked back into the kitchen.
