“Well we better get on the road.” Kate stood up with Jess’s suitcase. Jess just looked at Bette. She did not want to go to see her fathers family especially with Kate. Tina walked back into the living room and handed Jess the ice.

“Come on Jess all your cousins are already there.” Kate said putting her hand out for Jess to take. Jess stood up. Still asking to stay with her eyes. She walked to the door without taking her Aunt’s hand. Bette and Tina followed.

“Bye Kiddo.” Tina said after hugging Jess. “Here don’t forget this.” Tina handed Jess her Teddy Bear.

“Thanks.” Jess said.

“Bye sweetheart. I’ll see you in 4 days.” Bette said hugging her.

“Okay. Bye Mom.” Jess said sitting down in the car. Jess struggled to fasten her seat belt. Bette leaned in and did it for her, giving her a kiss on the way out.

“I love you.” Bette said, as she shut the door on the red BMW convertible.

“I love you too.” Jess said. Bette leaned in for one more kiss before they pulled off. Bette and Tina watched the car drive off.

“I wish I did not have to make her go.” Bette said as they walked back into the house.

“I know.” Tina said. She remembered the long loud fight that Bette and Jess had, had last week when Bette told her that she had no choice but to go. Both Jess and Bette had cried themselves to sleep that night. Bette tried to explain that it wasn’t up to her that a judge said that Jess had to spend one weekend every other month with her father’s family after Julie (Andy’s mother) sued for visitation with Jess just month before.

“It’s just 4 days. Kate said that she would let Jess call every day.” Tina said

“It’s just that Julie never agreed with me and they way I am raising Jess or the fact that Andy let me move to LA with Jess all those years ago. If she thought she could win she would try to get full custody of Jess.” Bette said.

“Let’s not think about that. Let’s think about what we are going to do this weekend all alone in the house.” Tina smiled and kissed Bette’s ear seductively. Bette smiled.
