"Yeah I guess, but I feel like when I do the publicity stuff I am asking for it." Jess said.

"I thought you didn’t care what people thought of you." Shannon said.

"I don’t but I don’t want Ian and Teddy or You or Angelica to be affected by my life. I know what it’s like to for some one to expect things of you just because of who you are related to. I don’t want that for anyone." Jess said.

"You mean everyone expects you to be an artist just because your Dad was a great artist and Mom is a big art world person." Shannon said.

"Kind of. If you were to ask someone who didn’t know me who I was. They would only know what read or heard someone say, and if that was completely wrong. They wouldn’t know any better." Jess said.

"I think you just made your case for doing the article." Shannon said. They laughed.

"I did didn’t I. Maybe it won’t so bad." Jess said.

"Yeah but you know if you do this then you are going to be approached by every Gay and Lesbian Advocacy groups." Shannon said.

"Yeah but I still have the power to say no to them if I want." Jess said.

"True. I think your girlfriend is waiting for you." Shannon said looking at Cat who was sitting on the beach watching them.

"Oh yeah guess we better head in." Jess said.

"I should start getting ready for work." Shannon said.

"I wish I could stay out here forever." Jess said.

"You are a true surfer." Shannon said.

"That’s what my cousin always says." Jess said.

"Does this mean you are going to the party tonight?" Shannon asked.

"I am going to go earlier so maybe I won’t have to stay." Jess said.

"I thought you loved those things." Shannon said as they paddled in.

"I used to. Until I became a novelty put on display for everyone to see." Jess said.

"Jess! You know that’s not why they want you there." Shannon said.

"I know but that’s what it feels like." Jess said.

"You should go and hang out downstairs with Cat for an hour or so and then when the little ones go to bed leave. That’s what we do." Shannon said.

"You’re bad." Jess said as the reached the beach.

"Your Mom called. She wanted to know if we were coming tonight." Cat said.

"What did you tell her?" Jess asked.

"I told her that I would have to talk to you, but I thought that we were going to hang out here tonight." Cat said.

"I thought we might go for a little while, and then we could head over to the Hut for the big party tonight." Jess said.

"Sounds good I just need to swing by my apartment to pick something up to wear." Cat said.

"K." Jess said.

"Are they coming?" Tina asked. She walked into the bed room with Angelica following behind.

"Yes. Jess said they would stay for a little while but that they had something to do afterwards." Bette said.

"Out. Out." Angelica said standing by the door to the deck.

"No sweetie you can’t go out while they are setting up." Bette said.

"En En" She said. Pointing at Ian who was running after Teddy who had his Gameboy.

"I told them to stay inside until they got done." Bette said. Just as she made to the door Teddy tripped and the Gameboy went flying out of his hands and into the pool.

"Oh my God." Bette said hurrying out of the door.

"Look what you did! You broke it." Teddy yelled before jumping on his brother.

By the time Bette got to them they both got in a couple good hits on each other.

"Hey you too. Break it up." Bette said pulling Ian off of Teddy.

"Let me go. He broke my Gameboy." He yelled. Tina reached them with Angelica in her arms. She held the back of Teddy’s shirt so he couldn’t go after his brother again.
