    Bette comes home.

    Previously:

    The auditorium began to buzz with question of Jess’s actions. Tina and the entire gang watched puzzled and carefully.

    Jess reached the figure and stopped in the light just before reaching it.

    Bette stepped into the light with a huge smile and many tears on her face.

     

     

    Later That Night

    The gang sat around the living room listening to Bette tell the story of what happened for a fifth time. Ian and Teddy were fighting who was going to get to sit in Bette’s lap. Tina sat as close to Bette as she could with her arm around her. The often gave each other sweet kisses making everyone in the room smile.

    Shannon sat across the room and listened tentatively. Jess and Angelica were no where to be found.

    "After the plane crashed, I thought that everything was over. That I would never make it home. Just as I was about to give up hope I heard someone digging through the wreckage. I started to yell out. It was an elderly couple and there grand daughter. They dug me out and took me back to there little mountain village. The village is so remote that they have no contact with the outside world except when the snow thaws and the mail comes. As soon as I could I made my way back to civilization. I called Peggy and she got me on the first plane home. I wanted to surprise everyone, but when I got to the house there was no one here. I saw one of the Graduation invitations on the table and went to the school." Bette said.

    "You surprised us all right and every do it again." Alice said.

    "Mommy promise you will never leave me again." Ian said.

    "Okay buddy." She said making sure not to promise but to give him the answer he wanted just the same.

    Melvin Kit and Angus walked in the house with dinner. After the food had been placed on the table Melvin hugged his daughter like never before.

    Everyone started to dig into the food.

    "Where’s Jess and Angie?" Bette asked.

    "I’ll go get them." Shannon said and headed for the stairs.

    1. I so love this story. I have been looking for another chapter tonight,thanks for taking the time to post. It is good to see that Bette made it back home and Jess is on the way to being able to deal with her problems.

    2. thanks for posting! I’ve been checking all day for it!! Glad jess is opening up. also can’t wait for more B/T interaction… they have lots to talk about…which is good cause I can’t imagine that they are going to be alone in their bed for awhile!! I love those boys!!!

    3. Yes Bette is back and so is Jess. I have always felt that Jess was a little angry that she was sharing her mom with everybody else. First it was Tina, then the boys, then Jess found out that Shannon was her sister and lastly Angelica. All Jess ever wanted was her mother back and for it to be the way it use to be when it was just her and Bette. Thank you for this post and getting it out so quickly.

    5. Glad you posted this chapter tonight, i was getting a little antsy wondering what was going to happen next. Now we begin to understand Jess a little better, I had often wondered if this was what had been bothering her all the while. Now maybe things can get back to normal, well, as normal as they can be with this crew. Really happy for Tina and Jess, they would have been basket cases forever if Bette had not returned.I do so love this story and I know I keep saying this but it is true. You tell their story so well. Thank you.

    16. It’s GREAT to have both Bette and the TRUE Jess back again. B&T do have a lot to talk about, but I am sure that they just want to hold and and feel each others presence. But first there has to be the family night in their bed and later their time alone in their bed :o)
