    Bette comes home.

    Shannon knocked on Jess’s door once and walked into the room. Angelica was on the floor playing. Making a mess in the ribbons and the old play jewelry of Jess’s. The Softball world series was on the TV. Jess sat in the window seat with her knees up to her chest. She was in deep thought. She looked at the locket, at Angelica and then out the window.

    "Food is here." Shannon said.

    "Okay." Jess said but she didn’t move.

    "Aren’t you coming?" She asked.

    "Nah I’m not hungry." Jess said.

    "What’s going on?" Shannon said as she walked towards Jess.

    "Why does everybody assume that there is something wrong with me when I am just not hungry." Jess said leaning her head back against the wall and looking at her sister.

    "Now I know something’s up. I can’t believe you aren’t happy that Mom’s home." She said.

    "What are you talking about I am ecstatic that she is home. For once I got my wish." Jess said.

    "Then why aren’t you down stairs with her. Why are you hiding up here in your with room with the one person who can’t tell you that you should be down stairs." Shannon said.

    "You don’t get it." Jess said and looked away from her.

    "Then explain it to me for once. You have the wall around you all the time and don’t let anyone in not even Mom." Shannon sat opposite Jess.

    Jess watched her for a minute trying to decide whether to let her in or not. She remembered something that Dr. Julia had told her. She said that if she was going to make progress she was going to have to open up completely to her family. Jess figured Shannon was as good a place to start as any.

    Jess handed Shannon the locket for the first time she was letting her sister see inside the locket. Shannon looked at Jess and took the locket.

    "I remember the day that Mom gave that to me." Jess said.

    "I thought Mama gave it to you at their wedding." Shannon said.

    "Well she gave it back to me with a picture added." Jess said opening the locket and showing Shannon the pictures inside. "Her adding this picture meant that I would forever have to share the one thing that had always been just mine." Jess said.

    1. I so love this story. I have been looking for another chapter tonight,thanks for taking the time to post. It is good to see that Bette made it back home and Jess is on the way to being able to deal with her problems.

    2. thanks for posting! I’ve been checking all day for it!! Glad jess is opening up. also can’t wait for more B/T interaction… they have lots to talk about…which is good cause I can’t imagine that they are going to be alone in their bed for awhile!! I love those boys!!!

    3. Yes Bette is back and so is Jess. I have always felt that Jess was a little angry that she was sharing her mom with everybody else. First it was Tina, then the boys, then Jess found out that Shannon was her sister and lastly Angelica. All Jess ever wanted was her mother back and for it to be the way it use to be when it was just her and Bette. Thank you for this post and getting it out so quickly.

    5. Glad you posted this chapter tonight, i was getting a little antsy wondering what was going to happen next. Now we begin to understand Jess a little better, I had often wondered if this was what had been bothering her all the while. Now maybe things can get back to normal, well, as normal as they can be with this crew. Really happy for Tina and Jess, they would have been basket cases forever if Bette had not returned.I do so love this story and I know I keep saying this but it is true. You tell their story so well. Thank you.

    16. It’s GREAT to have both Bette and the TRUE Jess back again. B&T do have a lot to talk about, but I am sure that they just want to hold and and feel each others presence. But first there has to be the family night in their bed and later their time alone in their bed :o)
