Alice and Dana had breakfast at 6:45 in the morning. Dana’s interview wasn’t until 10:00 and she wanted to have plenty of energy before she faced the one man firing squad. Her waqter was ice cold, her teeth were cleaned, and her clothes were well worn.
Alice said, ‘Okay. When you go in there, you say….’
Dana said, ‘Hello. I’m looking for Steve. We have an interview for 10:00.’
Alice asked, ‘And if he isn’t available?’
Dana replied, ‘Do you know when he will be here?’
Alice added, ‘And if they don’t know?’
Dana said, ‘Then I’ll ask if I can wait a while.’
Alice said, ‘Good. Remember to keep eye contact and have a smile on at all times. You don’t have to be Bozo.’ She circled Dana and said, ‘And you certainly don’t want to be the Joker.’
Dana giggled a little bit. Then she asked, ‘Okay. How do I look?’
Alice answered, ‘You look good. Somewhere between Valery Ortiz and Claudia Christian.’
Dana said, ‘Ooh, that reminds me. Where’s my rosary? My mom’s rosary.’
Alice answered, ‘It’s in your ring case.’
Dana thought it might bring her good luck if she called in some favors. That’s isn’t what she thought prayers were for but they seemed to be used for that very reason. Whether it was for money or the person of your dreams, or a one night stand, that’s what some prayers were used for.
Dana took some breaths remembering, ‘I am a woman and I can do whatever the hell I want. And if somebody gets in the way….let’s dance.’ Johnny Cage from "Mortal Kombat" couldn’t have said it better. She kissed Alice good bye.
Alice said, ‘Good luck, Dana.’
Dana said, ‘Thanks, Al. I really needed that’, and kissed her again.
Dana turned on her Chick Hits cd and headed to the gym. The song playing was "The Neverending Story" theme. It gave Dana courage and hope. By the time she made it to the gym, Dana had looped it over 4 times. She walked into Body Builders strong, confident, and ready. A male trainer met her at the entrance desk.
The trainer said, ‘Hello, miss. My name is Andrew. Is there anything I can help you with?’
Dana answered, ‘Yes, there is. My name is Dana Fairbanks and I’m looking for Steve McLeane. We have an appointment today for 10:00.’

I loved how A preped D for the interview. Now I am not sure if it would be the best job for her. Starting at 6am? There would be so little time for A because D would be all tired out when she returned from the gym. Furthermore, I thought Steve was a little cold to D. Could she look for something else instead, like a tennis coaching job. I knew it, the pictures on the dance floor. Can’t wait to read all about it. Thank you BoyToy. pps.
