    Living for Love: Chapter 15

Andrew said, ‘Okay. Just give me a second and I’ll let him know that you are here.’

    Dana said, ‘Thank you.’

Andrew left and Dana sat at the desk. Her left foot was bouncing up and down. She clinched her leg muscles to make it stop. She only had to wait a minute before Steve arrived at the desk.

Steve shook Dana’s hand and said, ‘Hello, Dana. I’m glad you could make it today. I hope the phone call wasn’t too abrupt.’

Dana replied, ‘No, not at all. It’s wasn’t a problem at all.’

Steve let go of Dana’s hand and offered, ‘Would you like some coffee before we begin?’

Dana didn’t plan on this so she didn’t know what to say. Turn him down politely to keep her face nice and clear of a coffee mustache. Or was this a way for him to see how far she’d go for a job. How many interviewers even offered people coffee before, or during, and interview? Dana couldn’t recall a single one.

Dana said, ‘I think I’ll be just fine with some water if that’s okay with you.’

Steve said, ‘It’s fine. Why don’t you sit at my desk and I’ll be right back and we’ll get started.’

    Dana said, ‘Okay. Thank you.’

It wasn’t a turn down or an acceptance. It was more like a friendly counter-offer. Steve got up to the water jug next to the tennis courts and filled up 2 Poly-Carbonate bottles. They were healthier to use than regular sport bottles. When he got back, Dana stood up, swallowed her saliva and said, ‘Thank you.’

    Steve replied, ‘You’re welcome.’

To start the interview off, Steve asked how Dana had been since they last talked.

Dana said, ‘I’m fine. I’m staying busy exercising and I’m still on my diets.’

Steve asked, ‘What kind of diets did you say you were on last time?’

Dana answered, ‘One is a low-sodium diet and the other is a gluten free diet. They’re mainly supposed to keep my salts controlled and my blood sugar down to a minimum.’

Steve asked, ‘Did you start them slowly or all at once?’

Dana said, ‘I started on the low-sodium diet very slowly with soups and Diet Vitamin Water. I didn’t want to put too much pressure on my body to adapt too quickly. The gluten free diet is limited to special pastas, baking goods, and some cereals. I get most of them from a certain spot at Wild Oats Natural Marketplace.’

    1. I loved how A preped D for the interview. Now I am not sure if it would be the best job for her. Starting at 6am? There would be so little time for A because D would be all tired out when she returned from the gym. Furthermore, I thought Steve was a little cold to D. Could she look for something else instead, like a tennis coaching job. I knew it, the pictures on the dance floor. Can’t wait to read all about it. Thank you BoyToy. pps.
