Shane sat down next to Carmen, not noticing the looks the others were throwing their way.
“Happy Birthday Carm”
Carmen turned to face Shane, happiness written all over her face. “Thanks”
Shane tugged nervously at the collar of the top she was wearing “I um got you something”
Carmen smiled sweetly “You shouldn’t have, you did enough yesterday”.
“What happened yesterday?”
“Alice you were there” Shane mutted as she looked at her blonde friend, who just shrugged.
“What happened yesterday?” Everybody laughed as Tina asked, her own curiosity getting the better of her “What?”
“Nothing happened, Carmen just shopped for furniture and needed help getting it back to her place”
“Which you then helped set up”
Shane just shrugged “It’s what friends do”
“Friends?” a few of them whispered.

Carmen tapped Shane lightly on the shoulder “Yeah friends. We rushed into things last time; we never built a foundation of friendship. So we are taking it slow, if things progress then they will and if they don’t we will still be friends. Its what we both want”
“That’s good,” Helena spoke “So when do you start this new job of yours?”
Carmen smiled thankful that the conversation had changed “Soon, I have the weekend off then on Monday I have to start looking into local talent” Seeing Alice grin she turned to her “Not that kind of talent Al, get your mind out of the gutter for once!”
Everybody laughed causing Alice to blush “Whatever, fine. I’m going to get a drink.”
Shane stood up as well “I’ll come with you”

“So you have to find new talent?”
“Yeah Jenny. You know Dj’s, singers, Bands. We are going to try and get it to cater for all different kind of genres. Different themes each weekend, that way the clientele will be different”
“As long as you don’t go taking my customers I wish you luck” Kit spoke softly but firmly.
“I would never do that Kit, you know that. I’m just hired for the music side of it”
“Which is the main part”
“I guess but Kit please don’t be mad with me”
“I’m not baby girl, I’m not. I’m proud of you” Kit smiled as she stood up and went to help out at the bar.

The night went on, the girls danced, talked and laughed. They all had had a wicked time.
“Hey Carmen before you go, I never gave you your birthday present”
Carmen who was silently drunk at this time turned around and faced her “And what is that?” she wiggled her eyebrows and ran her fingers down Shane’s arm.
“I um got you this.” She pulled out a gift carefully wrapped “I know it isn’t much but I thought you might like it”
Carmen reached forward and quickly tore the paper off “Oh WOW! WOW! WOW! Thank you so much Shane” Carmen jumped up and down and flung her arms around her, planting a kiss on her cheek.
“Your welcome” Shane blushed seeing the attention their friends were giving them.
“So what has shane got you?” Alice asked slurred,
“This” She handed it to Alice who just frowned.
“I’ve never heard of her, what kind of CD is it?”
“Dance by a European artist.” Turning her attention back to Shane “I can’t believe you got me that, I only told you I liked it yesterday. Where did you find it?”
“In a music shop, about the tenth one I went into. I’m glad you like it.”
“Thank you thank you”
