    Meditations on Life Part 10

“If you don’t need anything else, I think I’ll get this one home.”  Helena said, lifting a sleeping Angelica onto her hip.  “Oomph, my my Angelica, how big are you getting?”

Smiling at her daughter, Tina kisses her lightly on the forehead.  “Goodnight baby, I’ll see you tomorrow.”  Running her fingers through the curly hair, Tina smiled up at Helena.  “I’m fine.  I’ll just hang around until she wakes up.”  Tina whispered, glancing down at the bed.

Nodding, Helena pecks Tina on the cheek.  “I’ll leave some dinner for you, so when you get home make sure you fix a plate.”

“Thanks Helena.”  Tina said, smiling at her British friend.  When she first met Alice, she didn’t understand how both her and Bette could be such good friends after sharing such an intimate relationship.  Now, she understood it completely and was thankful that her and Helena could figure out a relationship, and that that forged relationship carried over to all her friends, Bette included.

Rubbing her temple, she looked up at Helena who was still standing staring at her.  “What’s wrong?”

“She’s going to recover.”  Helena assured, “when she wakes give her my love.”  Helena instructed.

Nodding, Tina reached out to grasp Helena’s hand.  “I don’t know how to thank you.”

Helena grinned like a child in response.  “Then don’t.”  Shifting her weight, Helena hiked Angelica higher on her hip.  “Sit down.  Read one of the many magazines you have,”  Helena giggled, remembering Alice coming back with about 2 dozen magazines in a black canvas bag, so proud of her purchases.  “And, most importantly, relax.  It could be a long wait.”  With one last peck on Tina’s cheek, Helena walked out of the room, the picture of confidence.

If only Tina could tap into a little of that.

Sighing, Tina went to back to the chair by the bed, collapsing into it tiredly.  It’d been about an hour since Bette had returned to the room, but she’d slept the entire time, not unexpected but Tina just needed to talk to her, to see her open her eyes for a little reassurance.

It was easy to forget in all the insanity that Jenny had died last night, that her life was cruelly taken – whether by accident or her own hand.  Now, in the quiet where the soft, metallic beeping indicated Bette’s heartbeat was the only sound, beyond her own, that she could hear she remembered.

    1. Ding, ding, ding! I was right, it was her appendix. I had to laugh at how confused Bette was once she woke up. She was too cute. Something tells me she’s going to be an awful patient! PPS

    2. Very happy to see Bette is OK. Bette was so cute when is woke up!!! Glad Tina and Angie spent some time together and had a good laugh. Thank you Love this story!!! PPS

    3. This is great Deean, Bette Porter wondered if she had gas????????? That will be a story to tell. Glad Tina is reflecting on the past and is fixed on the present and future. Thank you, Md aka Oma

    4. Hi, dear sweet Deean! Ah, it is great to see that Bette will be recovering. Her confusion, while awakening from the anesthesia was very realistic. You are right. Tina has grown a lot and handles things accordingly. She really knew how to keep Bette steady and give her the proper feedback as to what had happened to her. It was quite insightful to learn that Tina understood when Bette stopped laughing and that she misses that part of her. We know that both can work on something that will mend the wrong decisions made in the past. Plus, Angie’s presence is another encouragement for them to start a new path. On the other hand, we also think that Helena has grown into a kind and wonderful friend to have around. It is true that most of the time, through adversity we become stronger and better people. We are so happy that Helena has become a charming and faithful friend to both B&T, plus a great Aunt for Angie. While going back to the happy times we’ve shared in our lives, we realize that simple things are the ones which remain in our minds forever. Thanks, dearest friend for this amazing update. Hugs & kisses on both your cheeks. Lu & Marsh (Proud Salsa Aunties to the loving JC, Eunichick, ZLFAN, T_Daze, Melrose231 and Tias Adoradas to Patpez)
