Meditations on Life Part 10
Smiling, Tina perched on the chair by the bed, making sure that she was still in Bette’s eye line. “So you are in there?” The teasing question bought a smile to both of their lips. “How do you feel?” Tina asked.
“Sore… tired.” Bette slurred, still 2/3rds asleep. “Where am I?” She asked again, fixing Tina with the most pointed look she could right now, yet it only made her look more exhausted then before.
Tina nodded, preparing herself to answer the question. “You’re in hospital honey.”
Bette tried to sit up, “Fuck,” she cried as the pain forced to back onto the bed. “Angie?” she asked urgently, breathing through the sudden pain the best she could.
“With Helena.” Tina answered, her hand tracing Bette’s fingers. “Your appendix ruptured.”
Bette’s brow drew together, “why?”
Tina chuckled at Bette’s childlike question, “It was very inflamed, and just like a bottle of coke – it eventually exploded.”
Carefully lifting her free hand, Bette rubbed under her nose. “My appendix was full of gas?”
Biting her tongue Tina covered her mouth with a hand. “Not really baby.” She responded, amused. Tina had expected Bette to be out of it, but she didn’t expect her to revert to her 4 y/o self.
Worrying her lip, Bette looked every bit their daughter, “then how Tina?” She questioned again, clearly becoming agitated with the lack of responses she was getting.
Carefully perching herself at the edge of the bed, Tina looked down a the dazed woman. It was great to see her eyes open, but she was still sickly pale and every time she thought about how close Bette had come… her heart would flip. “I don’t know how.” Tina admitted, playing with the ends of Bette’s hair. “What I do know is you can’t move around much for the next couple of days.”
Looking up at the blonde confused, “Did they take me legs too?”
This time, Tina couldn’t contain the laughter, Bette was adorable and her cutely asked questions were just priceless. Vowing to herself that when Bette was better she was going to remind the drugged woman of this, Tina tried to calm down.
Hurt, Bette pointed out “stop laughing, this isn’t funny.” It really wasn’t, Bette was having a hard time placing the where’s and why fores and she hopped that she could trust Tina to fill in the gaps. Apparently not. Shifting her body away from the mirthful blonde, Bette managed to catch a gasp before it passed her lips.

Ding, ding, ding! I was right, it was her appendix. I had to laugh at how confused Bette was once she woke up. She was too cute. Something tells me she’s going to be an awful patient! PPS

Very happy to see Bette is OK. Bette was so cute when is woke up!!! Glad Tina and Angie spent some time together and had a good laugh. Thank you Love this story!!! PPS
This is great Deean, Bette Porter wondered if she had gas????????? That will be a story to tell. Glad Tina is reflecting on the past and is fixed on the present and future. Thank you, Md aka Oma
Brilliant update and glad Bette’s surgery went well. Thank you for this and waiting to see what happens next :)
Hi, dear sweet Deean! Ah, it is great to see that Bette will be recovering. Her confusion, while awakening from the anesthesia was very realistic. You are right. Tina has grown a lot and handles things accordingly. She really knew how to keep Bette steady and give her the proper feedback as to what had happened to her. It was quite insightful to learn that Tina understood when Bette stopped laughing and that she misses that part of her. We know that both can work on something that will mend the wrong decisions made in the past. Plus, Angie’s presence is another encouragement for them to start a new path. On the other hand, we also think that Helena has grown into a kind and wonderful friend to have around. It is true that most of the time, through adversity we become stronger and better people. We are so happy that Helena has become a charming and faithful friend to both B&T, plus a great Aunt for Angie. While going back to the happy times we’ve shared in our lives, we realize that simple things are the ones which remain in our minds forever. Thanks, dearest friend for this amazing update. Hugs & kisses on both your cheeks. Lu & Marsh (Proud Salsa Aunties to the loving JC, Eunichick, ZLFAN, T_Daze, Melrose231 and Tias Adoradas to Patpez)

Wonderful update. Glad Bette is going to be okay. Angie can be funny as all lttle 4 yr olds are when hearing something that amuses them. Happy that Tina also does not have to live thru all that anxiety. Thanks for posting.
I’m glad to hear Bette’s appendix was taken care of. I almost cried at Tina’s recollection. How sad! It’s always nice to see a glimpse of their happy years before S1. Thanks, Deean!
