Chapter 25: Looking for love and opening your heart (Bette and Tina have a night full of revelations)

(Previously) When Bette and Tina were alone during the evenings, things were getting a little awkward between them. They both felt a tremendous desire to say what was on their minds but both were afraid to take the first step.

Tina didn’t want to scare Bette off with an admonition of her love, especially since it had a little twist to it. She didn’t now how to bring up the fact that she fell in love with Bette all these years ago just from staring at her face on the miniature. Tina thought that this revelation could be a little bit too much for Bette to understand. And to top it off, she looked like Christina, the love of Bette’s life from the past. How could she ever compete with that?

Bette, on the other hand, still wasn’t sure that Tina would accept that she had developed feelings for her so quick. What if she was so deeply in love with that other woman that knowing about Bette’s feelings will make her feel uncomfortable and that would end their beautiful friendship. Bette was really jealous of the lucky girl who had Tina’s heart but she was determined to accept any decision Tina would make regarding them because all she wanted was to see Tina happy.

With those feelings, fears and doubts they both were going to bed every night leaving things unsaid and unshared, waiting for the other to make the first move. And this unbearable situation would stay the same for who knows how long if not for their usual daily library visit on one fateful Saturday afternoon.
