Out of Closet (B&T time-travel romance), Ch. 25

Knowing that it would be impossible to go back to sleep with all the emotions she felt earlier in the day and right now, Bette decided to get up and end this torture. “Might as well get a drink, maybe it will help me to calm down a little,” she sighed and went to the kitchen, trying not to make too much noise.

She grabbed a bottle of Perrier from the fridge and looked outside. The night was warm and breezy and Bette decided to go out to the patio. She sat down on one of the lounge chairs, looking at the stars and enjoying the light and gentle wind caressing her body and slowly taking away tension and anxiety. Bette closed her eyes and stayed alone with her thoughts.

Tina was lying in her bed awake, listening to the sounds of the night. It took her two hours to realize that sleep wasn’t coming easily because she was overwhelmed by the events of the last week. Tina was so happy to spend every minute with Bette but that happiness was incomplete because she was unable to share her feelings freely.

Tina turned her head towards the open window in her bedroom. She could hear crickets outside declaring their love to each other and could feel a lovely breeze bringing refreshing coolness into the room.

The lonely voice in her head began speaking, reminding Tina about a heartache and yearning.

‘All that I want is to be in love with someone who wants to have a home with me but right now I feel all alone in this world. I wish happiness to each and every person behind the doors that were shut in my face when I was searching for love. I never expected to want you like this but right now I can see the light as if I found out where I have to go. Tonight my room turned into a cage without you…all I want is you.

I thought I knew something but now I don’t even know who I am anymore. I used say I LOVE YOU when I knew I wouldn’t hear NO in return…but when I was finally told NO, I didn’t believe this answer and I waited to hear YES. And now, as I wake up every day, it is so strange to know that we are only being friends but I have enough friends…I can’t stand the word FRIEND when it comes to you because I want something more than that…I can’t stand the word LOVE if you don’t love me in return…I can’t stand the word ALWAYS because it usually turns to NEVER…I simply can’t stand words anymore…I don’t need words to tell you that you are all I want…you are all I need.’
