Planet Terror: The One With The Kinky Restraints

    …Barely gettin by
    Its all takin
    And no givin
    They just use your mind
And you never get the credit
    Its enough to drive you
    Crazy if you let it

Somewhere in the compound, Dolly Parton’s recorded voice sang out.  Bette wondered casually, if Dolly had made it out of this crisis in one piece.

Bette’s eyes opened carefully.  Her head hurt like hell. The night before, she and Alice and Shane had gotten shit faced and played poker—no stripping went down, but they did bet on an awful lot of personal items.

“Ummmm…honey?” Bette whispered to Helena. Her headache was slight, and her nausea would probably pass quickly. She had drunk Alice and Shane under the table—she figured her liver was probably bionic as well now.  The thought nearly made her laugh. She cleared her throat. “Hun?”

Helena sighed in her sleep. She had brought Caiohme to bed with them the previous night, when the little girl had had bad dreams. Her hand lay lightly on the other side of the baby, who slept quietly on her back.

Bette waited a few moments. She debated telling Helena sooner, rather than later, that she had lost her Vulcan in a bet with Shane.

Knowing Shane, the Vulcan would probably not stay away for long.  But still, Bette felt pretty stupid.

The door to her bedroom creaked open, and Bette looked up.  There stood a grinning Shane.

“Target practice…” Shane snickered, handing the weapon over to Bette. “Thanks for lending it…” She winked.

“Thanks for pretending it was just a loan.” Bette said, relieved.

“hey, Bette, I hate to be the holder of bad tidings and whatnot…but the doc needs you back downstairs.” Shane looked sadly in at Helena and Caiohme.

Lately, the experiments on Bette and Helena had become some kind of full time job for them both. They arrived at dinner, every day for a week, exhausted, sore, and full of burns and cuts. Helena and her mother were still fighting over whether or not to continue. Helena and Bette were in agreement—they’d come this far, and both would feel far too disappointed if nothing came of the attempts at finding a full cure and antidote.

    1. lol, incidently…sofa’s fine, just busy busy busy. i thought i’d yell her ‘name’, but didn’t mean to imply that anything is wrong with her. lol

    2. Yeah, I kinda wondered about sofa, but then I just thought you were just paying homage to “A Streetcar Named Desire”… So, Bette as bionic womanoid? Hell yes! And I think Monopoly has caused more deadly fights than any beanbag ever could. Caiohme should be kept well clear, until such time as she can kick ass and take names. Which, with her parents, might not be too long. I’m hoping you really are posting soon, cos I don’t think the sandman’s going to visit me tonight. Cheers hb

    3. Bette and Helena may have super hearing, but even with the zombie strain in their blood they may find it severely diminished if they keep taking that Oxy shit. Ask Rush Limbaugh. And speak clearly and directly into his hearing aids when you do. I think oxycontin is second only to crystal meth amongst the trailer park crowd. I was kind of sorry Peggy merely diminished the doctor’s mandate. She should have cut off his dick, the sadist (and you said this chapter was choppy). Why do sadism and religion so often go together? Why play Monopoly at the edge of oblivion? (Because it’s such gosh darn fun!) Anyway, I still hope Peggy, or somebody can pull the right strings to find a cure. And I hope you can pull the right strings to bring us some torrid, superhuman belena sex in the next chapter. Thanks for getting this one out!

    4. Okay, what is with that damn doctor…he creeps me out. Caiohme seems like the onl sane one out of the bunch. I’m having fantasy about a super human half-zombie sexy Bette and a bionic Helena now, so thanks bunches HB. PPS

    5. Dr. “Evil” is really weird, I don’t trust him at all. I’m afraid he’s going to kill Bette and Helena… But that’s not going to happen… right? RIGHT? heheh I Love this story! PPS!!!

    6. I’m enjoying the serious-minded Caiohme. If she could speak, I expect she’d be the story’s consistent voice of reason. As it is, I picture her surveying the surrounding mayhem with a permanent “WTF?” thought bubble over her head.
