The dull throb in Bette’s back woke her up. She groaned as the sunlight that stretched across the floor finally reached her eyes. Momentarily she forgot why she was on the floor in the first place. Then it all came flooding forward. At that point she didn’t know what to do next. Apart of her wanted to stay on the floor, she didn’t have the energy to get up and function just yet. She sat upright and her back was resting against the wall. Her eyes stared into nothing, they found a spot on the couch and stayed there as her mind replayed the feel of Tina’s hands on her face, the soft caress of her lips as she felt her leave a mark upon her, the loud bang of the front door. She rubbed her fingertips into her palms trying to trace the sensation of her soft skin in her hands. They played on a loop and tortured her. Until the soft beep of her cell phone indicated that she had a voicemail. Now subconsciously she knew that it wasn’t Tina but she wasn’t ready to give up just yet. Slowly she dragged herself to her feet and sullenly made her way towards her bedroom.

She pressed a few buttons to bring her phone to life and just as she was about to see the list of missed calls the phone rang, and looking at the caller i.d. she could see that it was Justine calling. She pressed the ignore button and saw that most of her missed calls were from Justine a few from Alice. She was about to press the button to get her voicemail when her phone rang again, she pressed talk and said into the phone, “Fuck off!” and hung up again. She stood still for a moment squeezing the bridge of her nose trying to fight off the impending migraine that was sure to come. Her phone began to vibrate in her hand again, she looked and saw that it was Justine again. She pressed the ignore button again and threw her phone down onto the bed. A few seconds later the phone went off again this time telling her that she had a text message. She glanced at the phone and saw that it was from Justine. Finally looking at the phone she saw what Justine texted her in big letters “TINA’S MISSING!!!!”
