Shane and Molly: A Love Story – Chapter 17

“Babe, why don’t you sit in the car with me?” Molly says, patting the driver’s seat.

Shane, still pacing, replies, “Nah, I think I’ll stand. I want to be able to help your father and sister with their bags when they get here.”

“You’re too cute when you’re nervous,” Molly says, a slight smile spread across her lips.

“Shut up,” Shane says, laughing. “I just want to make a good impression is all. You dad already hates me I’m sure. I don’t want to make it worse.” She walks up to the side of the car and bends down to look in the side view mirror to fix her hair again.

“Come here, babe,” Molly beckons. “Please.” Shane throws her cigarette on the ground and stomps it out. She walks over to Molly’s side of the car and leans up against it. Molly pulls Shane to her and kisses her. “There’s nothing to worry about. I’m sure they will love you once they get to know you.”

“I hope so,” Shane says as she presses her lips to Molly’s one more time.

As Molly pulls away from the kiss and opens her eyes, she sees her father standing on the curb. “Daddy! Sophie!” she exclaims, surprised to see him there.

Shane jumps back and smacks her head on the door jamb as she tries to turn around to greet Leonard.

“Ow, fuck,” she exclaims, rubbing her head. Turning completely red with embarrassment, she walks over to Leonard and Sophie and extends her hand. “Hi, I’m Shane.” Just as Leonard is about to take Shane’s hand, Sophie wraps Shane up in a hug.

“It’s so nice to meet you, Shane! I’ve heard so much about you,” Sophie explains. Molly had told Sophie all about Shane from the beginning. They were very close and were always there for one another. Sophie was genuinely happy for her sister and Shane.

Laughing huskily, Shane says, “It’s great to meet you, too!” as she wraps one arm around Sophie’s back, returning her hug.

Sophie quickly lets Shane go and runs to hug her sister, leaving Shane and Leonard to get acquainted. Shane extends her hand once again to Leonard, who takes it, and cautiously says, “Nice to meet you.” Leonard looks Shane up and down, sizing up the woman who had stolen his daughter’s heart. He wasn’t sure what he expected Shane to look like, but this certainly wasn’t it.
