Shane and Molly: A Love Story Chapters 1-6

“Yeah.” Shane sits up in the bed and leans against the headboard. She reaches out for Molly and pulls her over to her so she is leaning against her. “I’ll do whatever you want me to do. If you want me to just stay here, I can do that. If you want me to drive you and wait in the car, I can do that too.” She kisses her temple. With her lips still pressed against Molly, she says, “Or, if you want me to come in and hold your hand, I’ll be right by your side.”

“Thank you,” Molly says sweetly. She closes her eyes, enjoying being wrapped in Shane’s arms. She turns her face up to Shane’s, kisses her, and says, “I need to go take a shower.” She kisses her again and gets up out of bed. She throws on a T-shirt as she walks out the door. As she opens the door to the bathroom, Shane hears her call out, “You coming?”

Shane smiles, rubs her head and gets out of bed. She walks out of the bedroom and into the bathroom and closes the door.

Shane and Molly are sitting in her Jeep on the street in front of her mother’s house. Molly is staring out her window at the house. Shane lifts her hand to stroke her hair. “You okay?”

    “Yeah.”

    “You ready?”

“I guess.” Turning to face Shane, “This is going to be hard. My mother is not going to be happy. She’s probably going to say something pretty hurtful things to both of us.” She caresses Shane’s face. “Just remember I love you. No matter what she says. I love you. Remember that.”

Shane smiles. “Okay, let’s go.” She drives up the driveway and they get out. Shane comes over to Molly, who seems to be stuck in her spot. She kisses her head, wraps her arm around her waist, and together they make their way to the front door. Molly starts to open the door, but Shane stops her. “Wait.” She kisses her sweetly. “I love you.” Molly grins, opens the door, and she and Shane enter the house.

Standing in the foyer, Molly calls out, “Mom? Mom? It’s me. You home?” Shane and Molly stand there in silence for a moment.
