    Sharmen: I Gotta Go…Part19

“So what do you want to do?” Shane asked lazily as she flipped the channels on the TV. Carmen shrugged, blowing a stray lock of hair out of her eyes. Shane tilted her head to the side without lifting it off the back of the couch. Drew walked in and walked calmly towards the back of the couch, the girls could hear her, then at the last second she quickened her steps and vaulted over the back of the couch landing lightly between the two. They would have laughed had the boredom not already melted their brains.

Drew looked from side to side at the two of them then clapped her hands together and shouted, “Alright, get your pitiful asses up, we’re out of this dump.” And with that she was off back to her bedroom to retrieve Cherish.

It didn’t even register to Carmen and Shane what she had said until Drew shouted from the bedroom “Now!” In that tone that told them she was not to be messed with. Shane looked at Carmen and they both jumped up at the same time, looking for any excuse to do something productive.

“Turn it up,” Shane shouted from the backseat of Drew’s jeep as it roared down the road. Drew groaned and blasted the music even louder then it was as she closed her eyes for a second, the wind whipping her hair everywhere, the sun caressing her face and the far off sound of seagulls filling her senses. She past the kicked over mailbox and waited with bated breath. Then it came. She inhaled and smelled the familiar, comforting scent of sea salt and dusty sand. She smiled and opened her eyes as Carmen shrieked at her from the back seat about watching the road. She smiled and rested a hand on Cherish’s thigh. Her girl was she her girlfriend? Drew, not unlike Shane, had never truly had a steady ‘girlfriend’. But Cherish was different, Drew really liked her.

In the back seat Shane hummed along to the familiar sound of ‘Robot’ by T.A.T.U. Carmen giggled beside her on the bench seat. Her legs were curled up beside her and she clung to Shane’s light t-shirt as Drew practically skidded around the next corner. She shrieked playfully as she almost slid off the seat but it was drowned out by the throbbing music. Shane’s arm wrapped tighter around her back as she pulled her back to her previous spot. Carmen giggled again and looked up at Shane, feeling the undeniable urge to kiss her until there was nothing left in either of them.
