Now that the semester was over and as promised Bette had had to send her dad’s jet to pick up her friends that were coming to visit her. Alice and Shane had confirmed and so had Julia, the only one who she wasn’t sure about was Tina, which in the end wasn’t such a bad idea. Not that Bette wasn’t dying to see the blonde of her dreams, but that was a situation she wasn’t sure she could handle at the moment.

It was afternoon in London and Bette was nervously pacing around Heathrow Airport, even though the plane wasn’t supposed to touch ground at least for another hour and a half. Bette was restless with the anticipation of who may or may not come down from that aircraft.

JFK – A Few hours before

Where the fuck is everybody? It’s already fucking late… and I’m still sitting here alone… what the fuck… I hope nothing happened to them… and I still don’t get why Alice would not pick me up…

That was all Tina was thinking about while already waiting inside of Bette’s jet for her friends to join her. It had taken them a lot of convincing her but she had finally given up, mostly because she missed Bette more than she would ever admit to herself or anyone.

She needed to see her friend, and talk to her even if that implied melting and dying all over again. Putting her feelings aside, Bette was not an ordinary person for Tina and there was only so much silence and missing she could handle. Perhaps they still had a change at being friends, but friends like they once were, that was what Tina had planned for this trip… to at least gain Bette’s friendship back.

Suddenly she heard the voice of the captain on the speakers announcing they were about the departure.

“No wait… we are still missing people… Shane and Alice and Julia are not here… we can’t leave…” She tried explaining the stewardess that came to her assistance.

“Ms. Kennard, please fasten your seatbelt… we’ll be in the air in about ten minutes” She gently said with a smile.

“No but don’t understand… my friends… they are not here… we must wait for them…” Tina was practically begging the stranger to stop the plane and wait for a little longer, all the while thinking this was not happening.

“I’m sorry Ms. Kennard but we only have a certain amount of time to take off, we have to respect the schedule… if we would wait any longer we would not be able to take off altogether… now… is there any drink you would want me to bring you after taking off?” The woman explained to Tina ever so patiently.

Tina’s eyes were more than panicking, she was having difficulty to breathe, to think, to do anything actually.

“A whisky will do fine” She needed something strong if she was gonna try to make it through the long hours of the flight without jumping off the plane.

JFK – Parking lot

“Do you think it’ll work?” A pouting Alice asked her friend Shane who was resting with her back on her car and her arms folded over her chest, looking at the planes that were taking off, mimicking Alice’s position.

“I don’t know Al… I just… don’t… know…” Shane said with uncertainty in her voice but a glimpse of hope in her eyes.
