Kit shook her head
“Bette -this is huge – how do you feel ?”
“Confused just about sums it up “
“I am not surprised “
“Would you recognise her ?” Bette asked
“Man – oh well – I don’t know – she was a very beautiful woman “
“Kit – do you think that I look like her ?”
Kit considered the question looking at her half sister.
“Yes – long dark hair, very soulful eyes”
“Height ?”
“A few inches shorter than you but not much shorter”
Bette nodded “Well I guess that’s something – do you think you would recognise her ?”
“I guess I could give it a go – do you doubt her ?”
“Not really “
“But you are terrified that she isn’t who she says she is ?” Kit guessed. Bette nodded
“Pretty much – Kit – she is so like me its scary”
“So she looks like you ?”
Bette nodded “ Tina says its good to know what I will look like in 20 odd years time”
“It must have stirred some serious demons “ it was a statement not a query
“And then some “ Bette agreed “She desperately wants to get to know me and I am just scared Kit “
Kit nodded – she knew the demons that Bette had – she wished she could be there more than she had been for her. But her own demons took up the majority of her time.
“What does Tina say ?”
“She is concerned because of what its doing to me. Kit – what do you remember about Elizabeth ?”
“That she was beautiful “
“What did she do ? What job did she have ?”
“I seem to remember her family were well off. It was a small and very tight knit community -you only mixed with your own type. She had a business – a restaurant if I remember. She was smart – but not smart enough to see Melvin as bad news “
“Why do you think she left ?”
“Baby girl you have asked me that so many times – my mother didn’t like her and liked Melvin even less. I only really saw you once or twice a month. As for why she left – well it could have been any number of reasons – maybe she saw Melvin for what he was – a shyster. Maybe she found someone to treat her better. I just don’t know Bette – I wish I could give you answers “
Bette rubbed her neck
“Did she drink a lot ?”
“Elizabeth ? – I guess she liked a drink. I do remember her being drunk a few times but that wasn’t out of the ordinary – why do you ask ?”
“She told me that she left because she was an alcoholic and there had been some near misses when she was taking care of me. Is that possible Kit ?”
“Boy – an alcoholic ? Is that what she told you ?”
Bette nodded “ You sound surprised “
“Well I guess I am – its possible Bette “
“Possible or probable ?”
Kit sipped her coffee “ I don’t know. I know that you want some definite answers Bette but I can’t give you them. I rarely saw her and my view was tainted by how much contempt my mother had for her and for Melvin. It was only a few years later that I realised that my mom was probably jealous of her. She was a very attractive woman and my mom – who was older than her was jealous of the woman who was now married to her husband”
Bette nodded “ I am sorry Kit I just am trying all sorts of things to come to terms with what is happening to me “
“Don’t apologies Bette – – I really understand that you are lost – after all these years its not surprising that this has shaken you up”
Bette smiled and traced her finger around the rim of her coffee cup
“I don’t know how I feel “ Bette admitted “At first I was so excited – I had a mom and she was like me and she obviously wanted to get to know me “
“What happened to scare you ?”
Bette laughed ironically “ I started thinking “
“Never the best thing for you girl “
“That’s what Ti says “
“Seems that this girl of yours is one smart cookie “
Bette looked up and saw the blonde who had sole possession of her heart entering the café
“You are about to find out just how smart and beautiful she is “

At first I waited patiently for your next post, but over the last weeks I started getting restless that something had happened for you not to post anymore. You can’t believe how I have missed your posts.
Kit is back in the picture. Elizabeth seems to unsettle Bette…….. I am beginning to have my concerns. I hope Big Bette doesn’t hurt little Bette, or Tina will be ripping Big Bette a new ASS. Great update. I have missed you and your stories. Please don’t go away for so long.

Finally! It was time for Tee to meet Kit. Can’t believe it took you 88 chapters LOL. This woman keeps showing up with new info.. I can understand why Bette feels dizzy and ready to run away from her. Thanks for the updates, and again.. don’t take to much to post :D. (Hey mate, where are the L wings you promised?)

“Hell’s teeth”? Don’t think I ever heard that one before. So Elizabeth is going too fast (how dare she invite Bette and Tina over to meet the rest of the family!), yet new revelations from her are greated with the suspicion that she’s hiding things. I got to say Bette is striking me as a touch paranoid in this (Tina too, after getting all huffy about not being met for the shopping excursion). There’s nothing wrong with Bette talking to Kit, but she really needs to go to the source for her information, namely Elizabeth. And then Melving, that old dick.
Thanks so much for the update. This is one of my all time favorite fanfic stories. I just love the way you have written Tina with her strength of character and warm heart.

It SOOOOOOOOOOO NICE to see that you are back. I can’t and can believe you ended the chapter like that (Drama Queen). I can’t believe B&T have not thought about a D&A test. It would be soooooo easy to get a sample of Elizabeth, being a coffee snob just get it from her cup. It’s GREAT to see Kit in this story. PPS:o).
Hey Ally, Back agian to share the wonder or your writing. Thanks you for returning with your inimitable style and flair for fiction. Bette has been through so much in this drama as her mother returns. This has forced Bette to face so many of her fears; betrayal, abandonment, self-worth. It was good to find out that Tina was so mad yet as soon as she saw her lover, Tina’s tenderness took hold and she comforted her partner. Now meeting Kit is a major step forward in unifying this relationship. Still am impatient to read more so please post soon. Complete gratitude from Your Loyal Fan.
